What are the moving arrows (in contrasting colors)?

Sorry, I’m brand new and have spent a LONG time googling, searching forums, and reading the (almost useless) user manual and I can’t find the answer to this. I understand that a red street is slow, etc. But what are the moving arrows overlaid on the traffic color in contrasting colors? If the street is red and the arrows are yellow is the yellow direction moving faster? Or is it showing which direction is red? Is there any rhyme or reason to the colors of the actual arrows? (Sometimes they are orange or yellow.) What does it mean when the arrows are pointing towards each other? Traffic both ways? Is there a way to tell which direction the bad traffic is moving on? Sometimes one side of the street is fine but the whole street is red. Which side of the road does the speed limit pop-up apply to? Help! Thanks

Traffic density is represented in color. Yellow is light traffic, dark red standstill. Arrows means direction affected by traffic

The arrows depicting direction are problematic and often unclear.

That’s how it looks when a two-way segment has traffic going one way. The arrows are supposed to show which direction the jam is in.
