Ramps

All entrances to or exits from freeways.
A proper freeway style ramp onto or off of a Highway.
Not for at grade “street” connectors.
Not for turn lanes.
Roads connecting a highway with a rest/service/parking area should be treated as ramps as well and named accordingly (e.g. “Exit to Service Area”).
Ramp names do not appear on the client application map, but do appear in the text for routing directions.

Use ramps not for major ways !!

Is it an option to use both the international name as well as the Egyptian name of a street? I understood that the main name would be international and not arabic, so everybody can use Waze wherever you are. But I can imagine that inhabitants are used to their own names. As far as I can see now, there are not many Wazers yet in Egypt. But they probably are more inclined to use it when the familiar names are written down as well. Perhaps as alternate street names?
Of course it means extra work for the arabic editors… :cry:

Bilingual street name is not possible for us.
We do not have a arabic keyboard.
Moreover, it is a lot of work.

It’s still years of work before all roads are ready.
That seems to me the most important task.

Hi George
is very simple, I have given the name in two languages ​​all cities of Pakistan and Afghanistan, it is enough to find in the Internet the city concerned and after you just have to copy and paste the name in Arabic. That’s it.

Rocco, I agree with you. Although George has a good point for not making a big effort now. As we saw with the topic “mapping Luxor”, even copying can yield mistakes (I’m not arabic speaking :oops: ). Besides that, the street names in e.g. Luxor, are not very clear. Different maps show different names. Another strong point is that we are NOT allowed to copy from other maps like Google and Bing. Only open street maps. So perhaps it is better to wait for locals who like to improve the map. Still, a decision should be made on how to insert the names (standard).

I agree with what you said. For the moment, we provide only to draw the streets and their types, as regards the name of the streets we wait some local user to help us name them.
