A couple of users have reported seeing Wilton spelled Wilon (missing the t). It doesn’t show that way in the map editor or in the live map, but I have seen it myself in the Waze app. I checked all of the streets in the area and can find none with the wrong spelling. Probably unrelated, but I did find and fix a bunch of random streets that said they were in WIlton (capital i), and also a bunch that said they were in Mass.
The following link will show the user report. On my phone, Wilon shows up near Burton Hwy, a bit west of where the user report is.

I’ve got no idea how to fix this, but I wonder if it isn’t something that can be done in the usual map editor.

It still shows up as Wilon on my phone. Just to the east it also shows up with the correct spelling. Here’s a screenshot showing both.

I looked up “smudged city” and that led me to get this, perhaps more useful screenshot. As far as I can tell all of the streets within the smudge have WIlton as the city. (Yes, the I is capital and should not be.)
I haven’t driven in this area recently enough to be allowed to edit there so I think that’s as far as I can get for the time being.
And I’ve just submitted a city change request to correct WIlton to Wilton. (I originally tried to get WIlton merged with Wilton via the city merge form but they ended up keeping the wrong one!)
I used the same form to submit a smudge report for Wilon, so hopefully that will lead to this problem being fixed.
This issue is still visible on my phone, though at least one other editor is unable to reproduce it on theirs. Neither the city change request (from WIlton to Wilton) nor the smudge report for Wilon have been addressed, apparently.
Still not fixed yet, and there is a mysterious “M” floating between “WIlton” and Mason.
I think the original problem (“Wilon”) is fixed now. I can’t see it on my phone anymore. The capital “i” is still there. I don’t see the phantom “M” on my phone.
I just got this response to the city merge request I submitted in March:
So the merge was done backwards, again.
Has this been resolved yet, or is it still an ongoing issue?
“Wilon” is gone now, but Wilton shows up as WIlton (capital i). Back when it showed up as both WIlton and Wilton I submitted a merge request, but the merge was backwards, so only WIlton remained.
