Wme - editor profile (incorrect edit marker)?

hi.

i was just looking over my editing history when i noticed my map being zoomed out, whilst be confused why waze did this, i noticed when zooming back out there was a black marker, somewhere in algeria? i have never edited or even been there, so why has it been placed at that location? i then clicked on the marker which brought up the edits done menu, i clicked on for example a segment, and it took me to where i was “playing around/testing” how a roundabout works lol.

thank you.

I am not sure that this would qualify as a beta bug. Sounds more like a “local issue” than anything

hi @jm6087

could you please explain this further, i am not sure what you meant lol

note: forgot to add in original post but i have sometime noticed this happening on others profile when i view them (being nosy lol)

edit: i accidently pressed the “solved” button … not sure if its resolved or not yet, able to change or no?

thank you.

Basically, local issues would be for a WME issue that is only happening to a couple editors.
https://www.waze.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=321327

Technically, this would probably not fall under Beta Bug or Beta Bug Local Issues since it is not actually an issue with WME Beta and only an issue with the profile.
But since I can’t think of any other location to post at this time, I would recommend local issues.
Maybe RussPa or BeastlyHaz have feedback on a better location if local issues is not correct.

ah okay, thank you for clearing that up. hopefully this post can be moved to the correct place, once someone knows what issue this falls under

I’ll add that I’ve seen this on my profile and other’s as well. Note that the location in the middle of the Atlantic is not at lat/lon 0,0 where shield edits would appear.temp.jpg

Unrelated but similar, the markers on the profile page don’t really align with where the edit actually took place. I have a hunch they’ve updated the coordinate system for how they’re displayed, but they’re feeding those coordinates into the user profile page which is still set to use the old system. All of the represented edits actually took place in the MAR area.temp2.jpg

hi, any update regarding this? thank you.

Hi temp2123454333,

Sorry for the delay in tracking this issue. Could you clarify whether your problem always reproduces or occurs randomly? Could you please describe the steps to reproduce this video or record a short video to demonstrate this issue?

Thank you!
Darya

hi, thank you for your response, i am not sure on the exact steps, i just edit the map and sometimes i check the editor profile and on some occasions the above issue occurs. sorry for the lack of information. (i the only one i know that affects the editor profile pins, is when adding road shields to segments, then it puts it in the middle of the map).

In your initial post you wrote the following:

Did the map zoomed out by itself, without any actions from your side?
Do I understand correctly, that after you opening your profile with map, you expect that the map should show the part where you recently made changes? But instead it just opens some random place?

yes, if an edit is not in my area manager zone, the map zooms out. when i edit the map and see the map it shows various pins around which is correct but sometimes it says i have edited at 0,0 or somewhere in africa (which is not true), the main issue is of that with pins being placed either in africa or at 0,0, but not sure what causes that apart from adding toad shields apparently that puts a pin at 0,0?

Thanks for the clarification! Would it be possible to record a video on this issue?

to be honest i’m not sure if recording a video will solve it, you can view it on the editor profile (if the issue occurs which i don’t know when it happens), if this issue doesn’t seem to bad, it should be fine to close, thank you.

We will investigate it. Please let us know iif you notice any preconditions that will help recreate this issue.

Darya

For this situation, it has always been this way. This is because road shields are not actually added to a actual segment selected, they are added to the street object (all segments with same street name, city name, state name), so there is no way to add it to the editor profile as a location.

it seems this has been rejected and is no longer required. (marked as solved for now).
