13th Meeting (2): Brainstorming and Questions for the Staff

13th MEETING (2): BRAINSTORMING AND QUESTIONS FOR THE STAFF

es-anuncio

Hi everyone!! Congratulations to everyone who has been invited to participate in the meeting.
Now it’s time to start with the preparations
:smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

We want to start designing the program but, as always, we would like to develop it with your collaboration and with topics that the community wants to hear about or discuss, so we are open to your ideas and we ask you to post them here.

PLEASE NOTE: the topics for the BRAINSTORMING session are to be discussed among ourselves (within the scope of our community) and whether you attend or not, you can suggest them in this thread.

ANOTHER SECTION addressed to the staff is QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS, and here you can ask them all those things for which you haven’t found answers in the forum or in the Wazeopedia, the LCs… about how the app works, the editor, functionalities that don’t seem right to you, things that seem like they could be bugs or that cause confusion, etc. and topics to be handled by the staff, for which, as in every meeting, we share the Q&A form: QUESTIONS FOR THE STAFF AND THEIR ANSWERS, (you might also receive it by email).

THE MEETING ACTIVITY is divided into two blocks:

BLOCK 1: Reserved for the staff

  • Usually our SMC, Nicole Augustowski, gives us a summary of the year’s statistics and tells us “some news” about the upcoming future (this year she will be accompanied by one or two engineers who will surely tell us very, very interesting things).
  • They will also try to answer the QUESTIONS and ANSWERS we ask them (via the form and in person). WE CAN ALL ASK QUESTIONS even if you don’t attend; the answers will be published after the meeting.

BLOCK 2: CHAMPS and COMMUNITY

  • The goal of this block is to address topics from our community, from editing improvements (we want to clarify doubts, unify editing methods, etc.) for Spanish maps to management improvements for different aspects of the community (forum, Wazeopedia, resource management, etc.).

The Champs will comment on the latest news in WAZE over the last year in its various aspects.

And since the idea is to make something dynamic where everyone can participate: WE WILL REVIEW TOPICS based on your contributions in this brainstorming session - updates - modifications and decision-making on aspects that cause controversy or about which we continue doing things according to our own understanding.

Each topic will be treated very briefly by one of the participants. Each topic to be discussed will be a maximum of 10 + 5 minutes: presentation and discussion.

We want to hear your suggestions…

But all this must follow an established order.

ALL ANSWERS and CONCLUSIONS from the meeting will be published a few days after the meeting ends (soon)

With your suggestions / comments etc, we will develop a program that serves as our roadmap

We should not extend the meeting beyond 4:00 PM and we are going to be VERY STRICT in sticking to the schedule.

THANK YOU!!!

Who’s up for the first post ?
Who’s up for participating by talking about a topic they like or a project they have in mind?

The COORDINATORS and CHAMP.es

Good morning community, I know the topic I’m proposing was already discussed in another meet, but I would like to revisit the use of “Discuss” once more. Many of us come from forums, and the way to search, post, or use the tools within Discuss still eludes many of us.

Best regards,

AUTO_69

Please, no one is offering more :sob:

I can’t stand seeing you cry, so I’ll try to comfort you with a humble proposal.

I think I made the same suggestion last year, but I’m not sure; the fact is, I couldn’t attend and I didn’t see it addressed in the meet summary, maybe in the workshop. I don’t know.

The thing is, I think the handling of “Route exit turns” is very interesting and useful, while also being a bit complex. Even though it’s a type of editing for advanced editors, in the end, most meet attendees end up reaching higher levels.

Let’s see if I’m lucky and learn a bit more..

This year I really hope I can make it

Taking advantage of the fact that we have a total solar eclipse in Spain on August 12th, and since we’ll likely create more than one Place to guide Wazers to the best spots to see it, we could ask the Staff to provide us with some nice special solar eclipse glasses with a cool Waze design. On Amazon, a pack of 50 glasses costs less than 1 euro. I’m sure it would be even cheaper for them, hehehe :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

@ auto_69
:face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth: but Janklaaseen gave us a masterclass in Málaga!!!

But I agree with you that discuss is not intuitive at all :face_holding_back_tears:

It’s likely because I started out in the old forum environment, but you have no idea how much I miss that medium for debate. Anyway, I know I’m sounding like Grandpa Cebolleta (someone who, by the way, only those of us who mastered the old forum would probably know).

Hi there. How should we mark those elusive trailer and semi-fixed speed cameras? Since they can’t be specifically marked due to their mobility, could we create an area that alerts you when you’re entering a zone prone to emptying your wallet without knowing where they’re coming from? Or maybe in some other way that I’m sure we’ll come up with.

Don’t forget that besides suggesting ideas, you can also ask the staff questions…

And in case you haven’t seen it above, here is the link again to leave those questions:

Don’t be shy

Those of you who aren’t coming to the meet can also ask questions, of course…

It’s so quiet here and here I am proposing ideas for the 2024 meetup (how time flies) Copying:

I just read that it’s possible to show Google Places in WME, and even (for L5+) edit them. Maybe one of the L5s would like to tell us about their experience.

Based on @dewitg’s comment, it seems it’s been in Beta for a while and they’ve just made it available to everyone.

It wouldn’t be a bad idea if someone with a bit of experience in this area could share it.

Waze likes it when we work for big brother (or is it the other way around?)

It’s like when you send a kid to run errands. The kid is kept busy, and it works out for you.
