6: Philadelphia PA

https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lon=-75.20593&lat=40.00998&layers=1957&zoom=5&segments=76391096

Need a street name on this segment or there will be
no exit announcement for exit 339:
exit 339
South US-1
City Ave

Currently, when approaching this segment from
https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lon=-75.20225&lat=40.00728&layers=1957&zoom=5&segments=63167419

Waze instructions are merely “keep left”, with no instructions to actually Exit from I-76 onto City Ave.

This is the first route presented in
https://www.waze.com/livemap?zoom=15&lat=40.00997&lon=-75.21143&layers=BTTTT&from_lat=39.99392&from_lon=-75.19907&to_lat=40.00997&to_lon=-75.21143

Thanks

There are no changes needed here that I am seeing, nor could we really make any changes as everything is properly labeled and has the correct road type, unfortunately a little common sense seems like the only solution here. Only thing I can think that might help is adjusting the departure angle or creating a small freeway segment Here but I would recommend sending a PM to Jondrush for his input since he locked these at 6 for a reason.

Thanks. I see now that the ramp is labelled appropriately. Cleaning my glasses

So the lack of announcement of the road name is caused by something else. Departure angle? the angle between the incoming and outgoing segments is 176 degrees. But breaking up the junction at https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lon=-75.20284&lat=40.00842&layers=1957&zoom=8&nodes=53913913 with a short freeway segment might solve the problem?

It is too bad there is no “always announce” flag for exits. That would make freeway ramp mapping less fiddly.

I have PM’d jondrush for input and amended my first post to remove some (my) confusion. Thanks.

I think departure angle is the correct reason. I opened up the departure angle, I hope that improves the situation.

This interchange has always been tough. There are multiple ways to get people screwed up and a few ways that are preferred. We set it up this way to screw the least number of people.

Thanks. Should go live this evening. I’ll keep an eye out for it.

Unfortunately, that just doesn’t do it. All the driver gets is “keep left”, never an announcement of the correct ramp. I guess there is no way to force the exit name? That is a shame. It seems like a deficiency in Waze. We all know we want the exit announced, but there is no way to make it so and also maintain the peculiar ramp structure (that has been set up to prevent dangerous too-many lane changes?)

I’m not a routing expert so I don’t have exact advise to give, I’d reach out to Jondrush again. Only thing I can suggest that might be a “work around” solution would be what I mentioned earlier.

I misunderstood your first post and tweaked the wrong junction. I tweaked the correct junction now, see if that makes it better. According to what Waze has showed us, What I have should work without the departure angle tweak, but give it a few days and see if it works now.

Thanks. Sorry I wasn’t clear. I’m afraid I was confused and mistaken myself to begin with.
I’ll look forward to the tile update.
