Adding audible warnings on turns

Hello all,

I have been using the Waze app for about two months now. I also have been editing the map for about one month. While driving around using the Waze app I came across a few intersections which really needed an audible alert to “keep right” or “keep left”. These intersections do not currently give off an audible warning because I am continuing onto the same road. The problem is that the roads may have multiple lanes and may split in half. If you are in the wrong lane you are stuck taking the wrong road. Here are a few intersections to which I am referring to.

  1. The right land is an exit only lane. This highway becomes very busy at rush hour, and you are not always able to get back over to the right in time.

  2. The two highlighted segments have multiple lanes. If you are on the wrong side of the road you will be forced to exit.

  3. The road is a four lane road that splits in half. If you are in the wrong lane you will be forced to exit.

Now these are just a few examples of hundreds just in the Boston area.

My proposed solution:
1st:

2nd: Edit the menu around or just add a check box to allow the audible warning.

I’m sure the programmers could connect the two together.
What do you think?
Thanks for reading.

Okay so if I read that right. All these roads with confusing intersections need their geometry changed to a 20 - 30 degree angle if I want Waze to say “keep Right/Left”?

Now that third example I gave you has an angle, but it still does not give an audible warning. Is the angle not high enough?

I’m not sure but possibly because the ‘straight’ one is a ramp and the ‘keep right’ is the same classification that may be why it’s not giving a ‘keep right’ there? Someone else would probably know better than me, sorry.

Here is another example of a road with a Waze report on it.

I’m thinking that if you remove the name from this segment, you will break the continuity and that may trigger a keep left instruction.

The feature called “junction box” is something we’ve proposed and Waze has more or less accepted would be a better way to deal with complex intersection and junctions for which we need more granular control of navigation instructions. It is already on the roadmap (pun intended) but likely won’t be available for use for quite some time.
