I’m trying to add a few business to the Waze map which are not yet listed. I am getting a saving error of “You have no permissions to make some of the changes”
How can I obtain the proper permissions to contribute to the map?
It may sound like a Catch-22, but you gain more permissions by contributing quality edits to the map.
When you are a brand new editor, your place edits need to be reviewed and approved before they appear on the map. You also are limited to editing within a mile of where you’ve driven. (As it looks like you’ve only joined recently, your drives may not have registered yet.)
If you are trying to edit places created by others, they may be locked above your level. Do you have any examples?

It makes sense that all edits by newbies would need to be approved by more experienced contributors. I’m excited to contribute! I’ve actually been a Waze user for over 3 years now (same username) but, like you said, it will probably take a while for that data to come through).
The biggest blocker that I’ve noticed is when creating places - the WME seems to prefer a “less is more” approach - in other words, it just wants the name, location, and business type from me rather than full details like linking Google information, business hours, etc etc. I have made some initial place contributions which appear to be pending approval from those with higher access levels than me.
Anyway, I’ve signed up for the discord chat too so I’ll keep an eye out for an email on that.
I’m looking forward to contributing to Waze!

Linking Google places is restricted, but the remaining info you should be able to enter.
I have some of Chelmsford in my editing area, if you’d like you can post a PL (permalink) to the places you’ve created that are pending and someone here can approve them.
To get the PL, click on the place you created, then click the icon in the bottom right corner of the window that looks like two chain links. You can then copy the url from the address bar of your browser and post it here.
Here’s a tip - hover your mouse over the chain icon, and press ctrl-c (or cmd-c on Mac) to copy the PL. No need to wait for the screen to refresh.
I have found a couple of Parking Lot Areas (PLAs) that you mapped. I have approved them, but they are not complete. No worries, we can help you complete them. Here is a link on PLAs. https://wazeopedia.waze.com/wiki/USA/Places/Parking_lot#Naming
