Hi
Can someone point me in the right direction to find out how the roadworks warnings are added and removed in the live map. I have had a look through several wiki pages and can’t find anything.
There have been several sets of roadworks in my area that finished a while ago and the icon and warnings are still in the live map and I would like to remove them.
How they are added: direct data feeds from Elgin (roadworks.org) an TrafficMaster.
How they are removed: fervent wishing. There is no other method available to us to remove them.
There are feedback threads to report problems with Elgin and TM reports. Waze often say they are working with the data providers to improve these reports.
Note that these are nothing to do with the Map Problems that appear in WME reporting road closures which we then have to implement. We used to get closure reports from TrafficMaster - these were so universally crap that we eventually told Waze to terminate that feed. Elgin reports, on the other hand, are incredibly useful (although they could do with more detail in the MPs). I action the majority of these: 300-500 per week and about 5000-6000 since they started appearing. Of the MPs I close, only 5% get closed as “irrelevant”.
Thanks for the information. I had spent some time looking on the waze wiki pages and couldn’t find anything about these. Looks like I will have to put up with these until someone in Elgin remembers to remove them. It is disappointing as they will end up like the fog warnings left on motorways, no one believes them any more.
Having looked at the roadworks.org page, the problem ones have been entered by Southend Council (what a surprise). They have put it on there from 18th October until 31st March, but finished the work in December and just left them there. I am now going to start to try and contact the Southend Highways department and see if I can find who enters these. Should be fun.
