This week, DNIT published an update prohibiting heavy vehicle traffic on certain urban stretches of the city of Uberlândia - MG: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkAtV_o6xuI and DNIT restringe circulação de caminhões em trechos urbanos das BRs 050 e 365 em Uberlândia - V9 TV Uberlândia

Is there any way to also alert drivers through the app about this? Or to route them using the bypass as a preference?

Waze is not designed for cargo vehicles (such as trucks and trailers). It is a navigation app primarily intended for passenger vehicles (cars) and motorcycles.

While you can change your vehicle’s “icon” on the map to a truck in the visual settings, this change is purely aesthetic. It does not alter the app’s route calculation system.
