Auckland Motorway Ramp TTS

Hi Andy

Just about all the motorways in New Zealand need there names changed

Sweet. This looks like a project for me. Hopefully I won’t cause any further rushes of blood to the head.

Tell us when you are ready and where and I’ll unlock

oh yeah

first try somewhere you drive so you can check it works as expected

I drive sh16 and then sh1 as far as Manukau so that should keep me busy for a while. I assume that objective is to make the edits and then drive the on and off ramps to check the tts is correct.

I’ve unlocked all SH16 to SH1 (ramps)

keeps us updated

It’s best to edit your own area first to get a feel for how it works

I have edited all of the off ramps and will now edit the on ramps using the guidance in https://www.waze.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=122&t=72695&start=20. I think this will make the TTS much easier to follow since it will match the signage. I honestly believe most visitors to Auckland have no idea what the Northwestern and Southern motorways are.

I’ve finished all the SH16 ramps, and some of the SH1 ramps that were unlocked. To me the TTS now make much more sense.

Can you (ispyisail or another level 4 editor) relock the SH16 ramps and then unlock the SH1 (from southern Auckland through to Orewa), SH18 and SH20 ramps so that I can work on those.

Is this correct?

Entry to: State Hwy 1 - Auckland

Cancel that request of mine. All those South West’s should be South East’s

I’ll wiz through them all and correct them. Am I correct in my assumption that we use the general direction of the highway, meaning that for the above ramp it should be (SE) as opposed to (E), which is the actual heading at this point of the highway?

IMO the dual carriage needs removing

It does seem to complicate matters. Shall I go ahead and remove it? I assume the correct procedure is to remove one of the carriageways and then change the remaining one to two-way and then reconnect and correct all the intersections?

see wiki for proper procedure

data is stored in each segment so deleting will loose data

before

after

Got it. That is much simpler. I assume we do the same for on-ramps when there is a small island?
The south bound on-ramp at Royal road has a large island so I assume it should be left alone?

The GPS is only accurate 10 +/- meters

So use 10 - 20 meters as a guide

this one is OK because of the distance

Could we have the onramps also matching the signage?

So the one quoted above (the Great Nth Rd onramp towards the city) would be State Hwy 16 Motorway - Auckland

Locals may know the general direction, but visitors (and then probably some of us locals as well  ) would most likely be confused.

How about
