Whats the correct method of setup of Average speed cameras - which in AU are for vehicles over 4.5t only?

Will just leave and explain the issue to the reporter.
In some other states/territories, they use average speed cameras for all vehicles, not just heavy vehicles. The editors in those states have marked the segments involved (which can be numerous) with the “average speed camera” setting; based on my experience of travelling through it works quite well, showing how your average speed through the area compares to the designated speed limit.
However, because the NSW Safe-T-Cam system is only used for heavy vehicles, it’s not appropriate for us to do the same thing on the Waze maps for NSW (just as we map turn restrictions and speed limits according to what is designated for standard vehicles, not long or heavy vehicles). If the NSW enforcement rules change, then we can make the changes in Waze NSW maps to reflect that. (I haven’t heard any plans from for NSW Government/Transport/RMS to do this.)
I think safe-t-cams should not be on the map, thats just my personal opinion 
Heavy vehicle drivers are professional drivers and know they need to do logbooks and know about the safe-t-cams. Having a safe-t-cam give a warning you are about to go through a speed camera distracts non-heavy vehicle drivers as they report that there is no actual speed camera at that location. To me a speed camera notification in the app means you are passing a camera where you can get fined for speeding. This isn’t the case at the safe-t-cams unless you are a heavy vehicle driver and are not following your rest/logbook requirements and travelling large distances.
Surely we can come up with a style to hold for the state, given there are a number of average speed zones marked, with some not eg Woolongong approach from the Sth off the Hume which is always marked and URed whereas there are a number of cameras marked eg Cooma towards Canberra that is marked.
Was there any consensus for this in NSW?
I have some URs informing of the average speed locations, but my view is that we should not be required to map them?
As ituajr said earlier, whichever we do we’ll get complaints from people - some drivers are aware that the NSW ones only cover heavy vehicles, some incorrectly think that they cover all vehicles like the ones they may have seen in ACT, VIC or elsewhere.
Technically they shouldn’t be mapped in Waze - just as we don’t map turn restrictions that only apply to long/heavy vehicles - but I wouldn’t obsessively go everywhere and remove them. A polite “thanks” with explanation should be sufficient for URs.
I have spotted a UR on Picton Rd. This is a Heavy Vehicle (Safe-T) Camera point as discussed.
Should the camera in question be removed?

Just an explanation should be fine.
- Questions as to why some are mapped (ave speed zones), but not others (Safe-T-Cams)
- Unnecessary addition to map - depends on what proportion of users are truck drivers as to how unnecessary
I think no matter what we do, we will still get URs on the issue, so maybe this should be discounted as a reason.
I guess if we had a Heavy Vehicle category type available for selection, and we could mark the camera for specific vehicle types, we wouldn’t be having this discussion - we would be mapping these. But even if there was a truck type selectable, this would not change the fact that the warning would be given for everyone.
My thinking is probably mostly based on that fact that for the vast majority of users, the camera does not apply, so why have it there for a select few? Unless you can restrict the warnings to certain vehicles types, I don’t think it is worthwhile to map them. In addition, truck drivers are professional drivers, and should know the rules and how it applies to them.
My two cents for what it is worth (not a lot)
I think the Pros outweigh the Cons.
*I would be in favour of mapping the Average Speed Camera Zones
*I would mark the start and the end of each zone with either a speed camera, dummy camera or just a comment (depending on what the notification is you receive when you have a camera at the start of an average speed zone) the reason to mark each zone is because it is very difficult for an Editor below the Lock Level to actual see which Zones have been set as part of an Average Speed Zone
*If a camera is only a Safe-T-Cam and not also part of an Average Speed Zone these could be set as dummy cameras with a comment
*Most of these zones will be on Major Highways or roads that are locked at Level 3 or above and it will be tedious adjusting every segment over a long distance, there shouldn’t be a rush to go out and change everything
Personally I find it annoying that the same thing gives different notifications in different locations depending on how each has been mapped, therefore I am a great advocate to move to a consistent approach once one has been reached.
Which ever approach is adopted I would be in favour of having a comment at each location to make it easier to respond to the inevitable URs that will happen which ever direction is chosen.
PS. I know we should only map what is ‘Now’ and not what is the future but the Government could start applying these zones to all vehicles with a change to Legislation.
The locations in NSW with these types of cameras I am most familiar with are:
Federal Highway - currently has segments with the Average Speed Camera Flag set
Gundagai (Tucker Box) - Two signs “Safe-T-Cam Managing Speed & Fatigue” followed by “Average Speed Safety Camera”
south of Yass - start of an Average Speed Zone sign says “Average Speed Safety Camera”
Marulan - Heavy Vehicle Safety Station, cameras assist with compliance
The ACT Average Speed zones use the same sign “Average Speed Safety Camera” these zones apply to all vehicles. The zone along Hindmarsh Dr is also mapped with cameras at each end. It has been a while since I drove along this way, I would need to revisit the area to work out what warnings/notifications are provided.
The Maps Ituajr found give a holistic view of the network, there don’t provide much low level detail, ie how to locate the actual zones. It might take some effort to find where each zone starts and stops, and any potential mid point cameras.
While trying to find the Federal Highway section it was very difficult, there isn’t a camera icon marking the Average Speed Camera zone, these segments have a level 3 lock, the only way I could check up on these were in the history. (I have added a comment arrow for the moment that marks the start of this zone).
