Hello everyone,
We will soon be hosting a Map Raid here in Canada!
You can sign up for the Raid by filling out this form: http://goo.gl/forms/FCFMDE3O4y
Map Raids are a great chance to learn many skills in editing and how Waze works, you get lots of one on one with senior editors who are there to help! Not to mention the chance of promotions! Whether that’s a rank increase or a new role. (Such as Area Manager)
You can read more about Map Raids here.
Besides serving as a heads up to the Raid, this post is here to inform you of the new preferred method for Raids.
Due to Google Hangouts limitations for users and general lack of good UI; OrbitC has moved the entire Raid communication platform to a program called “Slack”.
This is an invitation based (ALL are welcome) program that is web based. It has apps for both iOS and Android. They are working on Windows phone and Windows OS integration.
Please fill in this form to join Slack: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1EDKDRAJTLEKDm5sihNykmRv5G4oyzBRZveJlj3uRsns/viewform
Orbit will send you an email invitation within a day!
Then make sure to join the “MapRaid-Canada” group. More info will be put out as it is assembled and available!
Looking forward to seeing you all out there!
-Ski
I’m in!!!
When do you think it will start?
We are scheduled to begin this Sunday.
Orbit will send out an email and PM with more details soon!
Skidooguy, I don’t see the MapRaid-Canada group in slack… I only see #Canada
Ah ok thanks, I did the request but did not know it was different for MapRaid… I just did a new request to get it.
Thanks!
Where do I have to go to get support for the WME Validator Localization for Canada (v1.1.3)?
I noticed that one of the street abbreviations is not correct in the script – Landng is not allowed in the script, but the Canada Post web site says the abbreviation for Landing is LANDNG.
Thanks,
Roy.
Landng is not recognized with TTS atm, you can check the sheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AgVtBjo5tTNgdG5vVHN5RmVzaWdlWk1VLTRzYUhGN0E#gid=0
Because it’s not recognized we then go to Waze’s Abbreviation List: https://wiki.waze.com/wiki/Abbreviations_and_acronyms
Landing -> Lndg
I did my best to make this clear in the wiki: https://wiki.waze.com/wiki/Canada#Abbreviations
Do you have any suggestions on how I could have better stated this?
Nope, perfectly clear. I just don’t remember reading it the last time I read this page.
Time to re-read the Canada wiki pages again – every time something else will “stick”.
I will change them to Lndg. Any chance the link displayed in the script/left pane in the error message could point to this section of the Wiki page instead of a link to a general interweb page on RegExp?
Regards,
Roy.
I’m new to Waze editing, but quickly learning and want to help out my area. I’m in Cobourg, Ontario but drive to Oshawa often, Peterborough and Toronto occassionally so my area is expanding.
Cobourg especially needs some help cleaning up the map. There are a few roads set as divided that really don’t need it, and a lot of mixed Point/Area places I’ve been trying to fix to meet standards. There’s a lot of locked roads that I can’t access since I’m still only level 1, unfortunately.
I’d love to help out where possible. The MapRaid Canada group is closed, so an invite would be much appreciated.
The forum group was for the Ottawa MapRaid. You can still signup for the GTA MapRaid here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/18w8bxr4HPki22yGDLzHnrlRswLOoes3RlfOTkSOWHio/viewform
There will most likely be a new forum group of the GTA MapRaid.
If there are places/segments that have issues and are locked to a higher level, you can ask for an unlock/update here: https://www.waze.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=358
