I posted this in the iOS thread first, but Vince kindly reminded me TTS is country specific, so I’m trying here now
I’m not sure when this started, it happened in the two previous versions as well, but before that I hadn’t used Waze in a few months. So I’m not sure how far back this goes.
Anyway: part of the voice instructions have a much lower volume than the rest. Voice: Kate, UK.
For instance: “In half a mile, turn right”. The turn right is about half the volume of the first part of the sentence. It makes it really difficult to hear.
It does NOT happen when it says “In half a mile, turn right onto [Road so-and-so]”. It only happens when the sentence ends with “turn right/left”.
Also, voice Kate has started to pronounce things differently. Mainly, when she’s saying “Turn right onto Station Road”, she stresses the ‘to’ in ‘onto’ too much, making it sound like “Turn right on Two Station Road”, with a defined stress on the ‘to/two’ part.
Previously she pronounced it correctly, this only started happening in the last couple of weeks.
Apart from that, there have been some other small changes in the pronunciation of some streets, but nothing too serious.
Don’t know if anything can be done, or if this is the new reality?
Must say, I haven’t noticed any drops in volume using the Android app.
This may be related to the issue they had a few months ago with TTS incorrectly pronouncing ‘Close’ as ‘Clos’ amongst other things.
If I remember rightly, they had to alter the turn instructions from ‘Turn onto’ to ‘Turn into’
