I live in Louisville, KY and I use US English Tom navigation voice. There are several street names that I wish I could change the way it’s pronounced in the app. This is a short list, but I’m sure there are more.
Maylawn Avenue (my home street - “Tom” pronounces it Mel Lawn Avenue)
Crittenden Drive (“Tom” pronounces it Cree-Ten-Den)
I know there are more, but I can’t think of them off the top of my head.
The desire for editors to be able to put the phonetic spelling in for the waze voice has been mentioned several times. I think it’s on the roadmap, but still a ways off.
This would be a nice feature. For example, where I live we have the AA Highway, which is normally called the “Double-A Highway.” It’s always weird to hear the computer say A-A.
Well, yeah, Ver Sigh is how it should be pronounced. Actually now that I pay attention more, I see you mentioned “Tom”, I always use Samantha.
But yeah, it pronounces it all kooky as I recall. I pretty rarely hit Versailles road, so not 100% sure but it wasn’t “Ver Sailes” (local pronunciation) or “Ver Sigh” (french pronunciation).
It would be sweet if the road name was changed to Double A Highway! I agree, as a frequent driver of that route ( also family members live off of that route) hearing ‘AA’ Highway just sounds weird.
