In the municipality of Val des monts, Quebec, Canada, there is a road called “Rang 6”. At one of the extremity, the road is seperated by a private land, with a locked gate, so we can’t go through. This road needs to be removed from the map and it should be a cul de sac.
Thanks for the message. I just checked the map on the Waze Map Editor, and this road is already marked as private and it won’t allow any through traffic.
Hi… I last edited that road. Can you please confirm if the approach coming from the west is open but the part to the east is not? In other words, to get to 1263 and 1271, do you have to come from the west?
If this is the case, then I will change the private part to be only the section to the east of those two addresses.
Thank you for your reply. Yes, I noticed also that it is marked as private road but I live a couple of houses from there and Waze always directs me to go through that road, even if I can pass. Also, when people come to visit, they are directed on that road and they get confused… How can we fix this?
Yes it is possible. From my house, I can go west and east, there is still a long road before I get to that cul de sac. My address is 1139, so from 1143 to 1231, the road is accessible. Its after that last one that its not anymore. On the other side of the private road, 1295 to 1311 are accessible from Montée Beauchamp. Hope this helps? Thanks.
It is quite possible that the app does not know your orientation, and maybe also precise initial position, when you first start up. So it makes an assumption - wrongly in this case - that you’re pointing east and tries to route you that way.
To counter that, I have enabled U turns at certain nodes. This is not ideal but it should allow the algorithm to route you away from the private section. This will take 2-3 days to be active.
If you head out and do not follow what the app is suggesting, I would assume it recalculates pretty much immediately and then sends you in the right direction, right?
Regarding your comment earlier about people coming to visit, I would assume that getting to your address works correctly, but that when leaving they experience what you’ve described here.
