City (Suburb Names) - Consistency?

Hi,
I have been adding street names to the roads around home and after reading the wikis about suburb naming would like to know others opinion. While the suburb (such as Sydney) may be unique at the moment, and hence is labelled Sydney, Australia, would it not be more consistent to have all suburbs listed as XXX, NSW, Australia. I can see future problems occurring when new suburbs in other states are added making them non-unique. It would be better to enforce the State identifier now rather than have to rename entire suburbs worth of streets in the future. Your thoughts?

Also… this is a permalink to St Johns Park, and St Johns Park, NSW. The only thing I can find without the NSW is the club, which is locked at Level 4.

Map editing… Something mind numbing after a day of sorting difficult problems, and a bit more constructive than watching ‘the box’!

I just turned off all but roads on the editor and zoomed out to see the bigger picture. There appears to be a lot of double suburbs, such as Beecroft, and Beecroft, NSW. Is there an easy way to fix them?

Ideally all suburb name should have no state unless they are not unique, but since most suburbs in Sydney have already been mapped with ‘NSW’ in the name, is most practical to make them all match what’s currently in use.

I have editing tools which can select all the roads within one suburb which I can then change only the suburb name with so I should be able to do something about Beecroft later today.

I’ve now fixed up Beecroft, should all be one suburb now!

Thanks. An ideal world would be nice. To make matters worse, there are two Silverwaters in NSW, both with Silverwater Roads. One in Sydney, and one about 200Kms up the coast!

I will have to go for a drive on the weekend. I have run out of roads to name. :slight_smile:

I guess I could start on house numbers… Are we going to put them in?

Has anyone actually got them to show up on any roads they have added them to? I added numbers on a few streets and they never show when you select the street in the app.

I’ve navigated to a number when the Google result tried to take me to the tunnel underneath, never had them show up in the client though.

The best way to get rid of the double cities is to fill in the form in the forum post on city names. I’ve cleaned up most of Brisbane the past 5 months using the Waze form but we have a special Aussie form now that the country managers take care of.
