[CLOSURE] A577 Orrell

Reporter says this will be closed this weekend. I can only find old closures on t’internet, although I have found this:

M58 Orrell
Overnight work is taking place for 2 weeks on the link road the between the M58 and the A557 with the link road closed between 9pm and 5am each night (not weekends) to install new road studs, signage, pedestrian barriers, alteration of road markings and vegetation clearance.

Overnight tomorrow (Saturday 17 October) – between 9m and 5am – the M58 roundabout with the A557 will also be closed for one night. Clearly-signed diversions will be in place during each of the overnight closures.

Hmm. I trust you to have done the research and it’s good that you quote your references. That let’s me check if I need to, but I don’t really want to be interpreting every source myself. In order to easily add the closures, I just need a few simple facts:

  • A reason to quote in the closure (not too long)
  • A simple list of start/end dates/times for any closures
  • A permalink!! :lol:

I’m not having a go and I don’t want to sound impatient. I understand that the information is inadequate, so we have to make our best guess. If I had come across this UR, I would be making that guess, but I didn’t.

I trust you and all our other AMs to make that guess and I know you’ll ask for help if you need it. I have other things I would like to be doing, instead of being on my second hour of editor requests. If you say “can you close these segments on 25th October from 8am to 8pm - I’m just guessing here”, then I can just do that and move on. :wink:

OK. So first the permalink you gave above, from Bankes Avenue to the slip road. I don’t know if that’s your UR, or if it’s a user. If it isn’t you, please ask if they can make any estimate. In the meantime, I’ve closed that section 8am-6pm on Sunday.

Next - the references you quoted took me to Roadworks.org and the discovery that the road leading down to the roundabout is closed Mon-Fri (ending Saturday) 9:30pm-5am. I’ve put in the 3 remaining closures of that batch. The gov.uk website says the roundabout will be closed for 1 night, but not which night, so there’s nothing I can do about that one. :frowning:
