Companion application for Waze?

I am an avid user of Waze. Love the community driven mapping idea.

There has always been a piece of functionality that I have wanted in a Navigation application that I never saw. This is the ability to see my contacts from my address book on my map screen just like I can see the nearest gas stations, Starbucks, etc.

I took a shot at an iPhone app that does this. It is my first try at an application:

Here is my issue…

It was pretty straight forward to create a way for people to select a pin they want to navigate and then toss those parameters to Google maps to handle the navigation. Is there a way that I could toss the parameters to the Waze application instead?

Thoughts?

Well, the current app doesn’t let you access your contacts, but word is this is in the newer versions that are in beta and haven’t made it to the app store yet. There is a newer version that is awaiting Apple’s review process, so hopefully they’ll be done with that soon as we can get it.

Being able to access contacts is critical for me. I am a real estate agent with 40 listings. I need to be able to access my contacts. I will use a nick name for each listing such as “grand condo”. I will input my current location contact (not gps location) in google map while I am in a building and tell it I need to go to another location.

Contacts were available in the last release.

Contacts are available in the iPhone version only, I believe, for the time being. I suppose Apple’s contact integration API is a bit simpler than the others? Just a thought.

Could be. The iPhone is what I was talking about, sorry.
