So I’m intrigued are there lots of lurkers here or is it really that no one from the Canberra area actually reads this forum? I noticed the introductions thread has very little in the way of introductions and is over a year old now.
If you are from the ACT (or nearby and often drive here) and read this post can you reply. I don’t care what you say in your reply you can just say “Hi” if you want, or even “No I don’t read the forums” (although that would be a little confusing).
If you mean permanently that is not possible unless we put something non-standard like a landmark over it but there would have to be a good reason to do that. You can just report it as you drive past it each day which is the way it generally works. If however there are any street closures/changes that aren’t reflected on the map then definitely that can and should be sorted.
Hi All
I’ve been moderately active in the ACT for a couple of months or so. I’ve made a few forum posts and unlock requests so I didn’t think it really necessary to add to this post .
I’ve noticed there’s a few things being done inconsistently or not in alignment of what the Wiki pages say. I intend to ask a few questions in the Australia topics forum in coming days/weeks to get a better understanding of these things.
On Bowen Drive - I believe this link relates. As the current stage of works will be ongoing to Sept 2014, it’s probably worth closing off some of the road segments. Maybe a task for Ian? Welcome Ian.
Yes you will find much around Canberra that needs tidying up. If you look at the ramps in that area that you linked you will see they are not as per the wiki and should be changed. Then there are a number of suburbs that have ACT in the name that should not be there. I did a couple in the far north before my editing privileges expired. Just look around and you will find plenty to do.
Thanks for helping out, the more the merrier!
Cheers,
Gav…
It would be great if TAMS and Waze got together and developed an .xml file for closure notifications which TAMS could load and Waze could scrape automagically.
Also, kudos to the poor Wazer who drives East along Parkes Way through Acton every morning recording his morning traffic jam.
I don’t know how well this works as I’ve never bothered to use it. Supposedly it can place a longer lasting marker on the waze maps. might be worth a try.
Welcome Finky3y, It’s great to have more Waze users. More ACT users will make Waze even more useful with more traffic data and user reports.
If you plan to do any map editing then keeping an eye on the forums and any PMs is a good idea, as is checking out the Wiki: https://wiki.waze.com/wiki/index.php/Map_Editing_-_select_map_editor

Welcome Fink3y, it’s always good to have more wazers. Even if you run the app while driving without it navigating it makes it better for everyone. To further Alig2605’s comment on the wiki and editing https://wiki.waze.com/wiki/Australia provides more specific information to Australia as we occasionaly do things a little differently to the US.
Hi Tillybrowndog!
Welcome. Its good to have new editors around with local knowledge on the areas they drive often. However, please don’t touch those dual carriageways before you check with an area manager (e.g. me (alig2605) or catanga). In particular please do not split any roads! Its a mistake rookies make too often.
Hi, I’m a recent convert to Waze - do a fair bit of driving around Canberra at the moment for work. I’ve spent the last year or so requesting updates to Google Maps but I like that Waze lets me directly edit the map.
