Does app route different to live map?

I was driving and asked for directions from Klumpp road to Garden City:

The app lead me onto the M1, NORTH towards the city, off Gaza road, under M1, back onto M1 southbound and then exiting the M1 at the bus depot near Garden City. Obviously the much short route is right onto Logan road then to Garden city.

Anyway - the point is, I reported that crazy route and then checked the route on live map the next day. The live map showed the correct route so I removed my own report thinking it was a once off glitch. I tried the route again yesterday in the app and the same crazy route came back.

I’m thinking the routing algorithm the app uses is different to the algorithm the live map uses. If that is true? Why? That seems like crazy stuff to me.

I re-reported the route and trace this time for dissection but sadly, I just checked, my report isn’t showing in edit mode. :frowning: I’m guessing I either didn’t press the right buttons while in the car or someone cleared my report without responding.

Some reports take a while to come through, one of mine the other week took quite some time. You’ll always be notified when your report is closed (regardless of Solved or Not Identified).

Sometimes you need to select the time of day in the LiveMap, as routes can vary widely depending on time of day.
