Rented a car from Enterprise in Switzerland and they mentioned that there are no toll charges. For a journey that should take 1:47 mins, WAZE had a route that was going to take 3:11 mins because it would not use toll roads, and I don’t know why it did that. I had to use Google maps to show be the shorter highway route that I knew about. BTW, I do not have the settings for avoiding toll roads set.
Hello @Red137MtnLake !
Many European highways and major routes are mapped in Waze such that they require that the appropriate Vignette be added to Waze’s list of Toll and HOV Passes in order to find the best route. Are you still in Switzerland, and would be able to test whether adding the Vignette CH pass in Waze fixes the routing problem? Do you know of any other passes or transponders that come with your rental that could be added to Waze?
Unfortunately I’m not in Switzerland anymore and the Enterprise people didn’t offer anything other than to say tolls were covered for the rental.
Okay thanks for responding, and sorry you didn’t have a great experience with Waze in Switzerland. The app is set up to only use highways that you are legally allowed to use, on a per-country basis, and offer correct toll prices depending on which vignettes (oval stickers) that you (or your rental car company) have paid for, at least where tolls are fixed and programmed by the community. You just have to configure it in the app, as you would for a toll pass transponder system. The Waze Switzerland community have a Q&A forum page and website available.
Too late for your trip, but now you know how to do it for your next trip to another region. Note, this topic may be moved or archived since it was posted in the wrong category.
Hope that helps, stay safe, and happy Wazing!
