Yesterday there was a demonstrate on the street. The Police were diverting traffic. I made an alert “close road for event” but it only stay for 20 minutes, then disappear. The demonstration last about 3 hours according to the news.
Is there any way an alert last longer? Is there an amount of minutes per type of alert? I was searching but didn’t find anything. Thanks!
Do you mean you hit the report hazard icon or did you use the road closure option?

I hit the report hazard icon, after 20 minutes the report/alert disappear of the map.
The same thing happens when I report an accident. Here in my country the vehicles stays a couple of hours until they move away from the road.
I had the same issue. I report a lot of “pot holes” in my city, and for my surprise all pot holes simply have disappeared the next day. How is it possible to fix a hole in one day? It’s too short. I know in my city they take at least 30 days to fix a pot hole. The same occurs with other kind of alerts, for example with “construction”. I know they will take at least 3 days or more, and Waze report only for that moment. Please, give us an opportunity to set the duration or improve the default duration.
There’s no way to solve it within the app.
The duration is too short. I absolutely share your opinions on that. But waze doesn’t offer us a proper way right now, to expand the duration…
On a long term road closure I disconnect the junction. We have a commemorative-list over here. Works great.
And for other road constructions we use Feed the waze. (Feedthe.waze.hu) which offers a pin in the map… (And is even better than nothing)
maybe you can try the side project ‘Feed the waze’. It has some difficulties, problems, whatever, but when it works properly it can be a solution for your problem.
atm it’s only a message on the road which is not taken in account for routing - but more than nothing.
We try to force Waze to adopt this reporting system, hope that it will happen ‘soon’

You should have used the Report->Closure option instead of Report->Hazard. It will allow you to set a duration for the closure.
Really appreciate that users are really concern about this issue as I also feel that duration for alert shall be in longer duration or till there is some-body or more than one-body said this case have been closed. As mentioned, any pothole or even construction on or beside road is really take times, and such alert shall be maintained as long as the repair or construction work not completed. This is for other users’ good as not all users travel within their normal or daily places, and those alerts really help for those outside from that hazard area (they are not aware of that hazard since they are from other place). Else, there is no use of those alert or reporting function inside Waze. There must be something special from this Waze that make people like to use it. I sure this is what users are looking for.
I tried feed the Waze several times, but it didn’t work at all. Now I make all closures in Map editor with restricitons.
I see it is in nanoRep under “how long does a report stay active”, but it has not been ported into the Wiki.
