Is anyone besides me having issues with the editor of late with regards to naming? I’ve tried it in both Firefox and Chrome with scripts disabled and generally end up with the same issues.
It would seem that I can hardly edit any street names, I’ll edit the street to the appropriate name, city name and country and press apply. Nine out of ten times it actually saves instead of throwing up an error. As a work around of sorts I add a segment to an existing road and name it the same and the editor generally accepts it. Pretty frustrating when trying to add major routes when I don’t have editing rights near their origin. :x
Some weird behaviour when editing near our borders, occasionally I can’t select SA as the country. As far as I know none of our neighbours have Waze as of yet but I can still select Botswana as a country. :?: Occasionally I can’t select any country (its blank) but this is generally fixed with a page refresh.
Please tell me I’m not the only one… and yes, I’ve cleared my cache, cookies and temporary internet files just to make sure.
I’ve not had issues specific to naming segments. Can you perhaps give an example area where this frequently occurs ? If these are also near the borders it might explain the weird behaviour.
I’ve had some general save errors where I just found that refreshing the page and losing the edits are the easiest way to go. After that, just do a few edits at a time and save frequently. That seems to do the trick.
At times just undoing a few edits also works, but it’s not consistent.
I’ve had that too. This is not just specific to ZA, there are numerous mentions for some flaky behaviour near country borders, both for INTL and NA server. It seems that the Waze border areas follow a rough squared tile outline based on the normal tiles or other tile size format, but it’s not precise.
Can you check if access works OK if you add those areas to your AM areas ? You’ll need to fill in the request though, but likely worth a shot. If you do not want to add them yourself, send me a PM with an area and I can request AM there if the CM rights do not apply - we can see if that works too.
My segment naming issues are thought SA. As I edit in and around PTA the most that’s where I get them. I’ll try see of its my pc though - maybe I’ll get different results on my work machine.
As far as the country naming issue goes I found a work around, start naming the segments that are clearly defined as in South Africa and work back towards the borders. The editor lets you select the street name (in this case the N11) and applies the country attributes to the segment. It’s seems after this that the area is then defined as South Africa as it were. An invisible city layer if you like.
Another thing I had issues with (later) last night was setting segments to No Name / No City. I was trying to mock up an intersection for another post, and just could not get it to save. Apart from the Street Layer being very flaky, I was forced to set the City name to a valid City in the area as a minimum.
After this it allowed me to save the streets with no name so they show up with correct attributes.
I saw some mentions in other threads of this behaviour this morning, so I was also not alone on this.
There was an update of tiles up to 7th April, so this might have been a contributing factor.
It would seem everything is back to normal apart from WME Highlights making my editing experience almost impossible. The script triples my load times in both Firefox and Chrome so I’ve resorted to editing without it at all. Pity though as I feel it adds value to possible edits.
