EV Charging points - A new UK Project

From what I can tell, it looks like the ‘Location in Venue’ box is used to populate the ‘How to find’ section on the location preview page. Screenshot here (slide 14):

https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1QVsnMDlpvi54ERGCxSKhTJrzSXW9hS8tmD8Ln9OQn0c/edit#slide=id.g1cf4d19c58a_0_868![howtofind.png|221x540](upload://9HS8gEG0ZhRYRXJfZddp7QOD42T.png)

The Location in venue is what Waze call last-meter information, a guide to where the equipment is located within the area, most useful for car parks. Description can be used for anything not available as part of the attributes and other details of the EVCS WME Place, “with beautiful views of the hills”.

Why were all the pending non-EV charging point PURs blown away?

This is a remote location with no SV. It’s at the end of a long private road signed “No uauthorised motor vehicles”: Permalink [Now marked as private]

This one is behind a gate in a private car park: Permalink

This is inside a multi-storey car park, so there’s no SV to confirm: Permalink

I had the comments layer off and didn’t notice this one was marked as “private” until after I’d approved it: Permalink

bp pulse - Wyboston Lakes:

Not on spreadsheet (as far as I could tell.
Also, doesn’t appear to be listed on the bp pulse live map

left unapproved for now with a map comment covering

They weren’t blown away they were resolved in the anticipation of 25,000 PURs covering the map https://www.waze.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=373754

Are we able to do the reverse link back to ‘The Spreadsheet’ (which we didn’t see in the pilot, as mentioned by Kevintiobraid) if we don’t follow exactly the routine shown in the Demo - how comprehensive, i.e. searchable, is the address field?

Edit:-

I have no need to worry about it.

Please wait a moment, following the presentation today we may need plan B.

Following the trial 200 and the youtube presentation earlier today, the way we are going to do this is:

Everyone who wants to get involved will be given access to the master spreadsheet. I will request this for the people I know will be taking part. If you find you still do not have access - after I confirm this has been done - let me know and I will sort it out. There is also a button to request access which you can use. Please do not use this if you are below L4 as you will not get access and will cause more work for us sorting it out.

The process will be - Find a EV PUR in the spreadsheet which is within your editing area, go to it via the link in the spreadsheet and then take the appropriate actions when you get there.
Once the PUR has been dealt with, return to the spreadsheet and mark up the end columns appropriately.

While this is a bit time consuming, it is necessary so we can see which ones are done and which are not. It is also the only way we can do this and maintain the links from the original data to the final EV Charger. This is very important as later in the process, the link will go “Live” and maintain the charging point data - plugs, number of connections etc, automatically. It will also give live updates to the users about the current status of the charger - available, in use, broken, etc. For this reason it is critical you do not reject any PUR unless you are absolutely sure it is a mistake and not there, as this breaks the link and it will not ever be updated correctly. If you manage to “accidently” do this, please add a note in the comments column as it seems we may be able to get the point re-added at a later date to then re-process it.

With this approach, the only way to get this done with the minimum opportunity for error and confusion is for us to “go for broke” and import all 24,000 of these in one go. This will ensure that all the spreadsheet lines actually link to an imported point and if there are several close together, the chance of picking the wrong one is reduced.

Any you find any that are unclear, leave, add a comment next to the PUR and add a comment to the spreadsheet and hopefully someone else will be able to make sense of it.

Please ensue you have read the new Wazeo before you start and at intervals during this work, This is a live document and we will continue to add updates as this work proceeds.

With us all rushing around working on these, please make sure you are set to visible and you have the Live Users layer on. This should hopefully stop 2 people working on the same one. Also make sure you have the map comments layer on as this will be were we leave notes about any issue we have seem while working on these.

Any questions, please ask before doing anything as we do not want to make any more work than we have to.

As some may have noticed, the EV PUR’s have arrived. Also, I have just been reminded I forgot the link to the spreadsheet in the last post. here it is. Enjoy.

Well, that did not work!! hopefully someone with more technical competence can add it properly in a moment!!

United Kingdom - EV Charging Stations Import - Google Sheet

Did a couple before checking back here so just retracing my steps and trying to tick all the boxes.
It seems that the address given in the case of supermarket car parks is the main road nearby - not overly helpful.
PERMALINK - in Morrison’s car park in Caernarfon - I’ve moved it to the right location but it was set to Restricted - changed to public - do I update the spreadsheet or add a comment?
Do you want a comment where the point is in a car park rather than on the road indicated?
Dealing with the ones hidden in hotel car parks is going to be “fun”…
Cheers
Martin
P.S. This Permalink is another in a Morrison’s car park set to Restricted - there might be a theme here??

This location is within the car park so there is no need to note the fact you have moved it and it is still in the car park, the store address is also the main road so they match.

The car park is signed as for customers only so this EVCS should be set to Restricted, please review the different access types and examples

Can you also ensure you are updating the name in line with the Wazeopedia guidance

OK - noted

OK - my bad - I hadn’t spotted that the Morrison’s car parks have Customers Only signs. I’m just used to using them whether I shop or not! I’d read the description as somewhere that there’s more of an attempt to restrict like a hotel car park. Updated.

Missed that bit too, but I see you’ve added “- Morrisons” to one of them but the guidance would suggest it should be “- Morrisons Caernarfon”? Before I do any more wrong!!
Regards
Martin

This point does not appear to be in the spreadsheet - I searched for Park Lane and accepted another, which appears to be on a commercial location so added as restricted.

It would appear to be private anyway.

Do I reject it?

On the spreadsheet. do we mark this as ‘Private -restricted’ or ‘new station’ - a bit confused as to what to mark in this column

On locations where we know the position is wrong, but can’t see it on the satellite or GSV, do we leave it as marked or move it to where we think it should be. Then physically check next time I am passing? Or leave as unconfirmed.

As with any mapped placed if there is more than 1 of the same brand in the city then we need to name them more specific, if they are the only location in a city then they only need the brand

https://wazeopedia.waze.com/wiki/UnitedKingdom/Places#Naming_conventions

The ZeroNet charger is line 18312 in the Sheet - I suspect this is actually at the farm with the Tesla charger as SV images don’t look like Tesla kit

The Wazeopedia page details all these, we do not reject any PUR unless we are 1000% certain it is not there

GSheet status options and guidance https://wazeopedia.waze.com/wiki/UnitedKingdom/Electric_Vehicle_Charging_Station#Status

As with any mapped Place we should locate it as accurately as possible, this is based on the information you have at the time, if you are local and can check you can always adjust it later

While I’m getting (potentially) stupid questions out of the way, on the location bit what do I do with this one: Permalink
Technically I guess it would be “- Bangor Retail Park” but I doubt many people would be able to tell you which of the many retail park-lets on Caernarfon Rd is “Bangor Retail Park”. A more informative description would be “- SportsDirect” but it’s almost certainly not theirs. Perhaps a few more examples on the info page?
Thanks
Martin

Sorry to be a pain but I’ve just looked at “your” examples again. Is there more than one “Moto Services” in Rugby? More than one “Tesco” in Walsgrave?
Thanks
Martin

The Tesla point is around 100 yards to the left.

I only noticed this one as it was so close.

There is only one in that road in the spreadsheet.
