I’m subscribed here, so hopefully anything Kentucky related folks will post here and I’ll see it… Maybe poor WeeeZer can stop having to PM me to alert me to issues in Kentucky I didn’t notice
Cool, Somerset, Columbia, Glasgow and maybe some other small places just along the CP are in decent shape but there’s other stuff that can be done for sure.
PSA: I drive the CP twice a year, so “my route” is in good shape. Other stuff I didn’t work on necessarily, so Somerset to Glasgow up to Horse Cave.
I’ve been to Horse Cave (from I-75) with Waze a few times in recent years. I think it is more of a challenge just staying awake on the long borring Cumberland Pkwy
You go to Horse Cave? Or Mammoth Cave? Horse Cave (city) should be okay, but makes me wonder… does Waze do nice things getting to Mammoth Cave? I (or BinaryGuy) should probably eyeball that situation. I think it gets 750k visitors a year, worth having solid maps for sure.
Yeah, I reside in Glasgow, work in Bowling Green, and have family in Somerset so I have become quite accustomed to the long borrring Cumberland parkway. The only changes that I’ve had to make to the parkway area is just renaming some exits in Columbia/Russel Springs to make them more user friendly.
I haven’t driven through Mammoth Cave area with Waze yet, but it would definitely be a good idea, and considering that I’m just about 15 miles away it wouldn’t be difficult to check it out some weekend. I’ll also do a check over the Cave City/Horse Cave area as well to make sure that it’s in good shape.
You can always use the Live Navigation script and the Live Map to see how the routes look, don’t have to physically drive there just for that. I’d start with seeing if the roads in and to Mammoth are edited or not myself, then test in the Live Navigation script when the changes are live.
The only entertainment we get from the Cumberland Parkways is counting the mistletoe in the trees along the road.
I took a look at the area, and there seem to be several issues, missing roads, etc… I’m applying for area manager in the park so that I can take care of it. I know that they have been doing some construction over the past couple years so it would probably be worth checking it out to make sure that the satellite images are correct. Is there a way to apply for area manager over a larger area than just a screen size?
If you want a real challenge, count the mistletoe during the summer
Cool, I never knew that. It was so much easier this time, thanks! Is there a reason that it still says not to use the live map on the application page?
Wife had to go to Horse Cave for work. Well, it was some doctor’s office somewhere in that county and the only hotels were in Horse Cave We went to Mammouth Cave once and I enjoyed it. I don’t remember if Waze got me there or not.
Oh, interesting. Last time I asked about enlarging my area, that’s what they suggested. Maybe for normal areas they only want a certain size (PM from editor) but when I enlarged my AM a while back, the Live Map PM was okay. I had most of Kentucky covered before I hit CM, so I could fix the top 50 cities in the state. Still haven’t finished those.
Well I submitted it already so I guess that we’ll just have to wait and find out. Hopefully it works out, because that would be much easier than submitting many small areas.
I had found the wiki page earlier and added myself to the AM section. I’ll take a look at it and if I have any other information, I’ll update it.
Really glad this forum exists. I’m trying to become an AM for Northern KY, so wish me luck! If anyone has any hints on what to do to get approved, I’d be appreciative. Thanks and a Merry Christmas and happy holidays to y’all!!
Some words advise. Make sure you have read the wiki, when you have a question try to find it in the wiki, if not sure about something ask in the forum, and you can always PM another AM/CM/RC. I even re-read the wiki to make sure I have finer detail correct. And always be willing and understanding of any critique that is pointed out to you and learn from it…
Another thing to remember is when you do your edits, check everything around the segment, check it again. refresh the map and then verify / check it again…
Hello, I’m in northern Tennessee but spend about half my time driving in southern Kentucky so I’ve been trying to edit around in the south central counties. They are in pretty good shape compared to some rural areas
I’ve done some work in Somerset and some cities along 27, but no guarantees much south of Berea London, Corbin, Mount Vernon, etc, should be… Okay. I wouldn’t put a stamp on them, as I never went much past the main city limits, but…
