Got an upate on my droid sometime recently- and it broke!

Just got some update to WAZE (I can tell, because the voice is different).

Went to use it this morning, and it would not give me an ETA. Just kepts saying “searching network”. I went to the user menu, and got a message that I could not log in.

I reset my password on the web, and entered the new one on my Droid (Bionic). Still says I can’t log in.

Pull the battery, and try again. Now waze claims I have no network connection (I do, I can use a browser and FaceBook no problem).

I have the exact same problem. And off course, now that I don’t have any network waze starts up. But I’ve had similar problems during the weekend up to now.

If you have no data connection (either really or Waze just can’t use it), the voices default to pre-recorded samples instead of real-time text to speech. So that may be why the voices changed and there was no update at all.

I cannot help with WHY Waze can’t find the data connection though.

No recent Waze updates that I am aware of, unless you only recently manually updated it.

If you had any recent OTA updates to the phone software, or are using a rooted device & try custom ROMs frequently, you likely fried the correct APN settings for your provider.

If that’s the case, most apps still work, but some are really finicky when it comes to data and the defined APNs and default APNs in use.
Similar data issues have been discussed in this thread, one specific post mentioning APN info here.

I was not using Waze at the time, but could not use the Android browser on my HTC Sensation after an Over The Air ICS 4.0.1 update. Most of the other apps worked fine.
Only after manually deleting and re-entering the correct APN entries, did things work properly again.
