Hi,
left turn is disallowed to the south at this junction.
Someone had unnecessarily added the left turn ramp section, but it wouldn’t link to the level 4 hwy anyway.
I removed the turn lane already, just need the left turn updated.
thanks,
Matt.

OK. If you think the turn lane should be there, it can be re-added, but the original turn lane was not linked to the south bound segment due to permissions issue, so the app wouldn’t route that way. On the weekend, it was trying to get my to do a big loop around the country side to approach the turn from a different direction.
can you please re-add the turn and link it correctly?
ps. @nibby34, you just questioned me about a bad route I reported on the weekend - this was the same issue. the map report can be closed, or whatever needs to happen with it. I was trying to fix it myself this morning but ran into the locked segment problem.
many thanks,
Matt
no worries, thank you matt n welcome to waze
Welcome to Waze Matt and thanks for helping to improve the map for the users. ![]()
Editing the map is not as simple as is made out to be in the videos. There are many things that need to be kept in mind and they can seem pretty daunting when first starting out editing. :o
The main concern is, whenever possible, deleting a segment should be the last thing we do. We should try to reuse existing segments instead of deleting and creating new ones in its place.
In deleting that segment all the speed related data Waze has for that segment and the segments it connected to have been lost. Things such as how long it takes to travel its length or the time a turn takes, now needs to be relearnt by Waze when a replacement segment is added.
The original editor probably just left it that way beacuse they couldn’t connect it
and should have made a post in the AU Unlock and Update Requests section of the forum.
Certain roads are locked to a higher level to help protect important roads.
When editing, we try not to fully copy the physical road layout and by keeping things simple, it helps in reducing map maintenance.
There are many useful guides produced by the editing community to help editors of any level to make editing easier. ![]()

Everyone is happy to help out any way they can. We all started out the same and would have run into the same issues.
