Been meaning to get to this one for a while, but now that I have, I’m unsure how to go about it. There are a couple of reports just north of here on the bridge.
The orthophotography is outdated but, to the best of my memory, the edited roundabout is correct.
Southbound traffic coming along the highlighted section, intending to head East, is required to take the connector road (wazer track), rather than via the roundabout (route guidance).
if the southbound traffic intends to go west instead, of course it must use the roundabout.
Why is Waze guiding through the roundabout rather than the connector road? It’s shorter, with less intersections, and should have the same penalty as the roundabout route.
Unfortunately it’s a Waze routing thing… Not much you can do about it. We’ve had several instances where you have a connector road and Waze routes through the round-a-bout.
As a general rule, Waze learns the best routes, so the more wazers that take the connector road rather than the round-a-bout, it will eventually work out that is the faster way.
Saying that if the connector road is close enough to the round-a-bout, the built-in GPS shift allowance may still ‘see’ a driver go through round-a-bout rather than the connector road. GPS is only accurate to 5-15mtrs depending on how many satellites it can see and how good the GPS receiver on the phone/tablet is. Unfortunately there are some really crappy GPS receivers out there as well.
