Right now there is no way to indicate a Truck, Bus, Motorcycle or emergency vehicles that might be on the shoulder other then typing it in, which is a problem if you are a single driver and in motion. Would like to see a menu of vehicle types to use.
But, if this not practical would suggest at the very least, changing “Car” on shoulder designation to “Vehicle” on shoulder, this would then cover all types and would be less confusing than using “Car” for a “Bus” or a “Truck”.
Or just assume that a Car On Shoulder warning means a vehicle is on the shoulder and you should be aware of it, regardless of what type of vehicle it actually is. Having to select the correct vehicle type from a list of options increases the number of taps and forces the driver to pull his/her eyes from the road for longer in order to make the report. Not good, and no better than having them type it in.
The current system works fine. Just assume that Car == any kind of Vehicle for this warning.
I have to agree. In fact, I only report car on the shoulder if it impacts the traffic or it’s hidden or it’s dark and driver did not bother turning on his flashers.
The problem with that is how can you tell it will never more substantially impact traffic. Right now as you pass it, it’s well off the shoulder, with flashers and nobody around. Fine no real hazard, don’t mark it. But twenty minutes later as I approach it, the Owner has returned with a gas can and is now standing on the side of the car almost in traffic trying to put the gas in the car. He is a hazard to me and I would really appreciate it if prior Wazers, (You in this scenario) had marked him so I would be looking for him. Or as I approach the car he’s refueled and attempts to jump back into traffic before I get to him causing me to slam on my brakes, again advance warning would have helped. Or one more, now as I approach there is a tow truck backing up to load him up, yes he’s got flashing yellow lights to alert me but again how much better to be alerted 2000 ft before I got to the spot?
A vehicle on the shoulder, regardless of type, activity or position, if it’s on a busy road in a location where vehicles don’t normally sit, should be reported as it is a hazard, and being forewarned of Hazards helps us be ready for when the minor hazard decides to literally jump out in front of us and become an instant major hazard.
what i would like to have due to my location is a way to place icons on the main screen to do the hazards all the time, not where i have to store them. is there a way to do that now that i am missing. i have to go through too many screens and that is not safe in Atlanta! love the program.
