Hertfordshire - Remove or update certain route/direction to a certain location

Hi there,

We’ve received a map update request to Waze support and we’re posting here on the user’s behalf. The link to this post will be forwarded for the user to follow up.

This is the user’s request:

User’s company is undertaking works on the A120 close to Birchanger meaning that traffic can be slow on the A120. The alternative route that Waze is offering is sending traffic through Birchanger village which is narrow and unsuitable for high volumes of traffic especially HGVs. Verges are being churned up and flows have increased 200%.

Please can Birchanger village be removed as an alternative route for any local roads

There was a faster route but that the faster route towards London from Bishops Stortford Tescos for example which Waze is offering is not an appropriate road. The road through Birchanger is very rural in nature, in places is only single track and is not suitable for usage by large vehicles. Your system is detecting the roadworks which my company is undertaking on the A120 as highlighted below and instead routing traffic through Birchanger village.

Residents are reporting mass increases in the volumes of traffic using what was a quiet village when traffic should still be using the A120 as this is not closed, just speed restricted. The local MP is now involved in trying to find a resolution for the residents with one of my solutions being to ask mapping companies such as yourself and Google to not navigate traffic through Birchanger village

@wazecsforum You may wish to learn how your own product works, editors have no way to set a diversion route or suggested route as we do not control the routing servers. If the Company doing the works, the Local Authority, or the Local MP wish to prevent routing through a specific area they need to create a Temporary Traffic Order that prevents through routing or allows access only, and then the UK community will add this to the map and respect the legal restriction of routing.

We are not responsible for the failure of those involved in planning or approving the works for the increase in traffic on other routes, nor should those involved try to shift blame onto others when the roads are open to the public.
