How can I chat to other people on Waze?

I just downloaded the app and I saw other people’s icons and I tried to click on it to message or beep them because I thought it could be a cute little thing. But I seriously cannot figure out how to add other people or chat to them. Is this like a thing where my account needs to be older? I just want to make little driving friends lol

Sorry to disappoint you, but that’s not really something you can do on the Waze navigation app. On here you can talk to other map editors, but not other local users that you may see on the app.

I know, I was a little disappointed when I found that out too. You can try leaving a map chat, but I’ve never had any luck with anyone responding to that, and have never seen anyone leave one, at least not in Saskatoon.

Yeah those are older social features, mainly the peace to add/create a friends group. Not sure what the status is is on it now though. It also relies on the user’s privacy settings

But the comments do still work - they, in addition to the Map Comment report, can come in handy during highway shutdowns.
The editor community has a bot that will scrap comments off closures, so if one comments on a closure, we’ll most likely see it (sometimes the bot needs a kick/reboot).

While its mostly the editors, users are also welcomed to communicate within the forums (or discord) as they deem needed as well.
