I’d like to ask for some “wayfinder” segments. Yesterday I was coming down I-95 from Connecticut, heading to the RFK bridge. As I approached the split where I-95 goes right and I-678 (Throgs Neck Bridge) goes left, I had no instructions – my next instruction was to stay left for the Bruckner (I-278). However, I needed to stay in the three right lanes, then immediately in the two left lanes. I would like waze to say at least “keep right then keep left”.
Right now I-678 is set up as an exit, and I-95 as a continuation. As a consumer I’m a big believer in wayfinder segments (http://www.waze.com/wiki/index.php/Junction_Style_Guide#Wayfinder_Segments). This area is partially locked. Even if it wasn’t, I don’t like messing with other people’s territory, but I believe some wayfinders would be a good idea here instead of the current configuration.
If I’m looking at the right section, you won’t get the prompt you want yet. As stated in the wiki, both direction choices must be the same road type. What I see is a mix of Ramp and Freeway at the decision points.
Well, in this case the left fork may technically be an exit but it takes just as many lanes as the “main” road. I would be in favor of freeway/freeway. Thanks.
Note that when using Freeway segments, if they are long enough the full name will show up on the client. That may be the biggest difference between Ramps and the highway road types in these cases. To reduce the times that a name appears, you create a short wayfinder as if you were using ramps, but type it as Freeway instead. (This is shown in the wiki.)
Closest to the simulator is using the livemap with the navigation script addon.
