I'm a new editor in the Toms River/Jackson Area

Hello everyone I’m Lauren,

Is there any rules and guidelines to doing this that I should know about? I made some edits today for the first time and I have scrolled through this forum a bit but a lot of the links don’t work when I try and click them. One in specific was the explanations of the types of roads. Oh and I read that there is a discord. What does that get used for? I guess I’m just looking for a little run down of where to go for questions or any tips.

I have edited quite a bit for google maps as I work security for a gated community here in Jackson, and we get a lot of traffic for the same repeated addresses that do not belong in here (not sure how they keep returning to the wrong spot on google maps to be honest.. its a mess). We also get visitors every once in a while that have their map trying to cut through here for weird places that don’t make sense. And once in a while we get people that come in for Shoal Road in Toms River , as we also have a Shoal Road in our community here in Jackson. The Shoal Road in Toms River was more recently built and it used to not show up on any maps at all so I think that why that happens. So that has jump started my interest in map editing. I wanted to see what Waze was showing everyone since I’ve been a Google girlie.

Welcome Lauren great to see you in Waze Discuss and the Waze map editor - I sent you a message with an invite to our Discord server!

We use it as a real time chat between all the editors in the North East! Each region in the US has one, it’s a great way to meet all the other volunteer editors and even Waze staff

You can ask for help there in real time and get feedback on your editing!

We do have some guidelines for editing, mostly the Noeth East and NJ state wikis:

Is a good starting point!
