Inaccessible roads

The link shows an area located on NAS JRB Fort Worth, TX. The T intersection is obviously connected but if you look closely there is a chain link fence and gate that is locked and closed at all times (The other side of the fence is a female correctional facility). I have separated these roads before to show that you can not physically drive between them even though they are connected. Some editors in the past have changed this to re-connect them (I’m assuming because they don’t know about the gate).

Should they be connected and just restrict the turns? I have read in the wiki that this does not always prevent directions which is why I physically disconnected the road. Looking for some other opinions. Thanks

Leave it disconnected (Waze will route through disallowed turns if it has to), and lock it at some level above 1.

How about putting a tiny “landmark” marked “other” with a title of “Locked Gate” and text about the correctional facility?

How about looking at it now.

Works for me. Here are two more locations on the base that I added but need the lock if you don’t mind. Thanks

Take a look at the gate, too.

I like the railroad “fix”. I just used this at the “Plant” where I am working this week. Whoever drew the original “streets” and roads out here in the middle of nowhere Kansas had never been there. This is a rather secure facility with lots of guards, fences and locked gates.

I made some changes to the main gate. There are some barriers that were installed that block access to the second turn into the visitors lot. I think the segment highlighted is also blocked by barriers but I don’t normally go in and out of the main gate so I will have to double check that one. I also restricted the left turn onto Hercules Dr from the main gain as that is also blocked by barriers.

The side gate looks good. I was reading the wiki and saw that private roads should be used for bases but figured I didn’t know enough to make that big of a change just yet or if it is even required for the whole base. Anyways thanks for the input and I’ll get back about that segment mentioned above.

That’s why I had that one section of road set to one way out, just beyond the gate. From the arieals, it looks like you can go into the parking lot from the base. It’s been awhile since I’ve been there.

Yeah the entrance to the lot is still there but they placed two large concrete barriers there so it is effectively closed. The only way into the lot is the entrance just prior to the main gate now.
