There is a road on my route in which one end is essentially always closed with a padlocked gate, but Waze still routes through it. VERY infrequently, this gate is opened for specific vehicles and deliveries, but all other traffic needs to go around to the other end of the road. The rest of the segment itself is open to traffic both ways that access it from the other end. What is the best way to edit this segment to represent this?
ETA: I think something in the https://wiki.waze.com/wiki/Private_Installations page is needed, but I’m a novice editor and would like to learn the right way to do things (without messing up the map) instead of just asking someone to take care of it for me like I usually do. The map at that point is open to level 1 editors. Thanks!
Hi ldriveskier,
It helps us to see what you are talking about. We use PL (permalinks) and this will tell you how to create them.
How to create a Permalink video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYmU6UPCiZs
Also we in Ohio use Google Hangouts to discuss these things and request down-locks.
you and join yourself by reading this and clicking on the link.
Just to help anyone who reads this thread in the future, the most common way to address this (at least in Ohio) is to actually disconnect the end of the segment that is permanently closed and then set it to lock level three to indicate it was done intentionally. That is usually enough to discourage anyone from trying to help by reconnecting it in the future.
I’d really like to edit it myself to learn how to do it (and it actually allows level 1 to do so). I’ve dug through the editing guide, but can’t figure out how to disconnect the end of the segment. Think of it as informal mentoring.
I would need help to lock it to a higher level when I’m done, since I’m only a level 1.
You are out of my reach (editable area) but it appears someone has already helped or done it.
Join us in the GHO and you will receive plenty of informal Mentoring an even formal if you desire it.
In this case you select the segment like you have and just grab the B node and drag it away from the junction. Drop it where you want it and Save and you are done. You must make sure there are no Geonodes along the segment path where you are dragging. If there are you must delete them by hovering over them and hitting the D key.
Good luck and I hope to see you in the Hang Out.
Thanks!
