Thought I would begin a page where new Map Editors/ Area Managers to Ohio can introduce themselves! :ugeek:
Hello,
I’m MeridianHills, Area Manager for Indianapolis Metropolitan Area as well as other areas of the state. I passed through Ohio while heading to and from Indianapolis to West Virginia and now have editing rights in parts of the Cincinnati Area and 3 miles on either side of the US-35 corridor from start to finish in the state. When I’m not busy with editing in my main areas, I’ll meander over to the Land of the Buckeyes and give you guys a helping hand
Good idea, MeridianHills. My area includes western OH and eastern IN, generally north of I-70. It’s about a county wide in IN and two+ counties wide in OH. I hope other editors see this thread and we can learn who’s working other areas in the state.
Live in Louisville with an office in Dayton so I ply the I-71 <-> I-75 corridor just about every week. Area Manager for the I-275 loop in Cincinnati. Have sons playing college and HS sports, so also frequently travel I-65 north to Indy, and I-64 east through KY, WV, and into central VA. Volunteer on the Puerto Rico Project. Have been fortunate that a group of talented, high energy editors are working to keep Cincy under control.
Live in Cincy so have most of the area uncovered through my daily driving. I also drive to STL every few months through the Indy/Louisville route depending my mood so I have 71+64 and 74+70 uncovered too. I log in about once a week to try to clear a couple URs and simplify overmapped parking lots I find throughout the city. Also backtracking through gas stations I mistakenly converted to points from areas based on the initial guidance about point vs area (thanks for the h/u on that one Helg).
I’m located in the Dublin but work in Mount Vernon. My work as a priest in the Episcopal Church takes me regularly to Cleveland, Akron, Wooster, Mansfield/Ashland, Norwalk, and occasionally up to Geneva. Depending on where our next meeting is, I travel around occasionally to different points in northern Ohio, like Bay Village. My daughter recently took a job in Fostoria, so I’ll be visiting there a bit, too. Tomorrow I’ll be in Mount Vernon, Ashland and Bexley.
I’m located in the Cinci area but in order to uncover more area to run Validator on, I’ve recently explored a lot of the territory north and west of Cinci. There is a little bit of Ohio south of I-70 between the Indiana state line and Columbus that I haven’t driven in last few months… but not much as you might think.
As my username suggests I am a Purdue alumnus and still have a lot of friends in that area, so the stretches of freeway between Cinci and West Lafayette, Indiana are always editable for me.
Seems like the Cinci crew (primarily Helgramite, yogi_v2, and myself – though we’re getting some great traction with newer editors, some of whom have posted on this thread) are starting to branch out to more geographic areas; we look forward to “seeing” more of you as time goes by!
EvilSigmund: I think that’s a great topic to start a thread on; please go ahead and do that if/when you get a chance!
I’d love to exchange thoughts on approach, etiquettte, resources, tools, etc. to help out editors working in areas outside their “home zone.”
I have developed my own informal system through trial and error (probably equal parts), but am adding new tools to the toolbox all the time. I’m confident many others could benefit from a thread on that topic.
Hello all! It’s been great to see everyone introducing themselves here. For those of you I haven’t conversed with, I look forward to working w/ you at some point.
I’m located in the Toledo/BG area and travel quite a bit throughout northern Ohio. I grew up in Central California and came to Ohio to attend Ohio St. I came to NW Ohio after I graduated from OSU and I teach HS music in the area (hence the s/n). You’ll typically find me in NW OH, down to Columbus where I have family, over in Cleveland visiting my wife’s family, and even out in Amish country.
Along w/ Helgramite, we are your Ohio State Managers with me primarily overseeing areas north of US-36 and Helgramite areas south of US-36. We are looking forward to creating an active and robust editing community to improve Waze for all of us.
Feel free to contact me if you need anything and I look forward to seeing you all out there! Happy Wazing!
Hello all. Thought I would chime in as well and introduce myself. My name is Fred and live in Canton, Ohio, Stark County. Been using Waze for a few months now and love it, but found a need to make some improvements in this area of the map. This app has so much potential and really looking forward to contributing.
I’m sketch. I’m a Global Champ, country manager for the USA, and probably some other stuff.
I live in the New Orleans area, born and raised. So what the hey-ho am I doing here in Ohio?
Well, my girlfriend’s from Detroit, and her family’s still there, so we pass through quite a lot. One day (okay, a couple months) I decided to go through and clean up the entire route between here and there, straightening out freeway geometry and making sure all the ramp names were there (a lot were missing!). That meant I’ve spent a lot of time on I-75 in Ohio – both in the editor and in reality. And somehow I started to get involved with your community of editors
While my editable area is all of Ohio (plus), I have to admit that most of my edits in the area have been a little self-serving; besides the entirety of I-75, I also cleaned up I-71 between Cincinnati and Columbus, some of US-33, and a handful of state highways in anticipation of a detour to the Hocking Hills region. Some good it did me – once I got off 33 for the hills, I completely lost my cell phone service!
But I’m willing to help anywhere Drop me a line if you need anything and if GizmoGuy isn’t available. I can’t promise I won’t be super busy, but I can usually manage to make some time.
Hey all. My name is Adam. I live in Canal Fulton, OH (near Akron/Canton) and work in Cleveland…a lovely 45 mile each way drive. I found waze by chance one day while I was sitting in Cleveland and saw that the traffic conditions were “reported by Waze”. I got started editing because I hate clutter and junk…and because I don’t want the scenic route while driving, I want to go from point A to point B in the best way possible.
Also as a High School Soccer Referee I have found it as an invaluable resource when I trying to get to school that are out in the middle of nowhere.
I love the exchange of ideas and welcome anyone/everyone’s input. If ever there is something that someone sees that I could be doing better or differently, I fully welcome the advise.
Hello to all editors in Ohio. My name is Al (I use the handle AJS17 because those are my initials and birth date - Not because I’m yelling at you). I live in the North West Columbus area and travel up to Akron on a regular basis. I concentrate my editing activities around the greater Columbus area answering UR’s, fixing addresses, and aligning geo-nodes to the Google map.
I am retired after almost 42 years with the telecommunication company with a focus on technical training and course development. I enjoy the challenge that WAZE offers to find, and correct, all of the problems that seem to find their way into the map. Besides WAZE my hobbies include wood working, gardening, RC model airplanes, hunting, and fishing.
