I’m a level 1 editor. I’ve noticed many incorrect speed limits around the country that I would love to have the chance to correct.
The link above is one such segment I can think of which is 50KM/H. There are many more to come.
Best Regards

If a moderator reads this, can they please move this thread to the Jamaica editor request forum?
Hi world_a797vnyo
I didn’t see your request until today when a fellow editor told me about it. We have a dedicated editor request forum for Jamaica.
Can I ask whether you’re resident in Jamaica? I’m not, being based in the UK but visiting family regularly. Other regular editors are also based off-island. It will be great to have someone local!
Speed limits have generally been added over time largely based on government guidance as to when 50/80 km/hr are normally applicable, rather than on observing signs which are often found only on the main roads, except on roads where I’ve driven with a dashcam or seen videos with speed limit signs. We don’t have any Google Streetview to help with resolving queries ![]()
As far as I can tell, you’ve no experience of editing at all, so I’d prefer to be cautious and ask you to start making changes to roads you can edit yourself so you’re built up a history of editing the Waze map. I have ways of monitoring the segments you change and can reach out if I think you need any guidance.
I’ve updated the speed limits on the segments you provided on the North Coast Highway. They’ll be live in a few days.
Only T, A and some B roads are locked above Level 1 so there’s a lot you can do yourself. If you can post requests with links to main roads where speed limits are wrong, I or other editors will fix those until you’ve built up a record of your own achievements on which confidence can be based to allow the down-lock. I hope you understand our caution.
Jamaica editing is not active enough to justify it’s own version of Wazeopedia, so for guidance, please follow the guidance in the US or UK versions of Wazeopedia. UK guidance is closer to general Jamaica road-layout practice for obvious historical reasons.
Hi John,
Thanks for your response. I’ve been doing some editing here and there. I’m not sure why my original post was made under that name. Thanks for your help. I am a resident here in Jamaica and I do travel around very often especially between Kingston and Montego Bay. I also have a dash cam which can be useful in verifying the edits. Let me know how I can help.
Regards,
Maurice
Hello. Here’s another speed limit edit. This is a 50kmh zone
Hi Maurice
Change made to set the speed limit to 50 kmh now. It should update on the map in a couple of days.
Thanks!
