Upon driving from Glengarriff to Kenmare reciently, the speed limit being displayed by Waze was 100kph, however the speed limit along this streach is now 80kph. When I checked WME, the majority of segments are correct, however there are a few segments that are incorrect. Could the following segments be unlocked please to enable me to update the speed limit:
I was there about three weeks ago. I thought I read somewhere you can only edit outside your driving area for 2 weeks? I guess it’s over to you guys for ten updates?
Hm; odd that you lost editing right sthere already. I thought it was three months that the editing area lasted. Maybe I’m out of date.
Anyway, I’ve changed those segments to 80km/h. It looks like street view for that section of the N71 has been updated relatively recently (September last year) and it shows only 80km/h signs along there.
I’ve never been to that bit of Kerry - it looks beautiful. Maybe next trip in that direction (along with west Cork).
I added a few L-road numbers while I was changing the limits. Looks like that area in general needs a bit of attention - there’s quite a few private roads mapped as streets and so on.
Thanks for flagging this road anyway. I wonder if that section was ever really 100km/h anyway. When I set the speed limits for most N- and R- roads around the country, in many areas I assumed that any section that wasn’t near a town was probably 100km/h, so I probably got it wrong in a few places.
It is - that section of road from Glengarriff over the Caha Pass is spectacular, I have both driven and cycled over it may times. In the times of staycation I would highly recommend West Cork & Kerry.
I’ll help as best I can in my limited capacity!
No problem - there was another road somewhere in Kerry where I came across the same thing, I’ll post the details when I find it. I remember it used to be 100kph a few years ago, I think it was revised when all the county councils were asked to review their speed limits.
