As nobody else has jumped in, I have to ask - is this publicised anywhere?
There’s nothing on the Traffic England map apart from a congestion warning approaching the A3093 junction westbound. Live Map is also showing that slowdown in traffic and no user-closures are visible.
There was a closure overnight of the A3093 entry slip to the A303(W), but it reopened at 0603 according to Closure Monitor.
I’m sure this must be frustrating for you that we’re not just taking your word for it, but the aggravation that mistaken closures bring makes it safer to miss a closure completely.
Just went to double check that, and found a roadwork sign on the Traffic England map that indicates lane 1 is closed westbound of the A3093 junction. IIRC, it’s a two-lane carriageway through there?
After the previous, not quite right closure when the wrong segments were closed, I checked traffic England but could only fine reference to the whole project (Summer to December). Prior to that local papers had a map from traffic England showing each of the four major closures that were dune on different weekends.
I’ve been driving past signs warning of the closure this week but I couldn’t quite see as I left Andover this morning to check. The west bound slip into the 303 was still closed at 7.15am
Sorry I can’t offer you anything more solid. I agree about needing to be certain. I realise work schedules change.
FYI, closure monitor picked this up and closed it at 9:10am on Sunday morning, about 15 minutes before your last post. Closed until 6am Monday morning.
Thanks - I saw that. I did a “road closed” report as I drove through - shortly before posting here. I presume Waze doesn’t actually close a road until a few users report it? Maybe my report tipped the balance.
It does require several reports from the app to close a road for all users. It’s also supposed to take some account of rank - so a L5/L6 editor could possibly close the road with just one report, whilst it might take 4xL3 or 10xL1. I don’t think HQ have ever given us exact figures, although tests by Global Champs have shown that a L6 editor can close a road.
In this case, if CM hadn’t been involved, your report might have tipped the balance. But CM is adding it’s closures through the editor, which doesn’t need multiple entries. In fact, it’s possible that CM will remove app-reported closures when it comes to add one itself.
