I’m sorry but we seem to have missed this - I know we often work late into the night, but I was certainly already tucked in and fast asleep when you posted.
I’ve had a look at the Closure Monitor logs and found that it received and implemented a westbound closure for roadworks on the A303 between the A3093 and A343 Salisbury Rd junctions from 21:06 to 04:07 last night, but nothing for the eastbound, which you implied was closed from the A343 Weyhill Rd juntion. There’s an Elgin closure report on roadworks.org for the westbound A303 from the A3093 3rd Aug-5th Nov 06:00 with a current status of “work completed”, confirming the entry on Closure Monitor. The Traffic England website is now showing nothing for the A303 this weekend apart from a couple of congestion reports.
Strangely, I have also found a UR on the A343 Salisbury Rd from 23:02 last night showing clearly from the tracks that they came west along the (by then, apparently closed) A303, and were directed south down the A343 only to be turned round and directed back to the A303(E). Even more strangely, Waze didn’t use the 120’-diameter roundabout to make the u-turn, but took the user down the private road and round the PLRs of the Wyevale Garden Centre car park to make that turn.
Unfortunately, Tim’s now on holiday so not available to comment. Ian (ditchi56) is also on holiday, so the UK CA team is somewhat depleted. I’m flagging this up to the rest of the team to see if anyone has any additional ideas on what happened.
