L5 - Gloucester

This underpass is elevation -2, the same as the northbound ramp it goes under (motorway is fine - ground level).

I’ve changed it to -3, but - you are aware that it currently makes no difference to the display at all?

Elevation of road segments is ignored when rendering the client map. Relative display of segments is entirely dependent on road type. Assuming that UR was complaining about the A417 apparently going over the ramp, when it in fact goes under it - there’s absolutely nothing you can do. Major Highway is a higher road type than Ramp so is drawn on top of it.

Not that I believe setting elevations is entirely pointless. Firstly it’s a minor aid to editing: if you select 2 crossing segments with different elevations, Waze will not pop up the little icon to allow you to join them. Secondly, the App might one day render roads based on their elevation - it’s something I’ve been seeing requests for as long as I can remember.

Also, “in the old days”, I believe that there were more automatic “cleanup” routines running on the map. One of these could potentially junction two crossing segments if Waze thought people were moving from one to another. Different elevations then were supposed to prevent this. Disclaimer: I could be wrong with all of that - it’s just what I remember hearing!

Ah, no I hadn’t twigged to that. Thanks.
