L5: M8 lane guidance, Glasgow

This UR asks for lane guidance on the motorway split.

I suspect it’s refering to the Ballieston Interchange where the M8 meets the M73.

The signage and road markings at this first gantry suggest the slip road is for the M73 and Glasgow S.

However on reaching this second gantry the slip road is split and actually takes all the M73 traffic, both north and south bound. The effect is to put M73/M74/A8 southbound traffic into the left-hand lane on the slip, and M73/M80 northbound traffic into the right-hand lane.

As things stand, waze directs northbound traffic to take the slip contrary to the signage on the first gantry. Although that works, it means an unexpected merge into the right-hand lane on the slip.

As for the M8 into Glasgow, a “keep right” shout would be a welcome confirmation on approach to that second gantry!

Thanks.

A keep right instruction was already mapped at this junction, I have now changed this to lane guidance to show taking the slip can be lanes 1 & 2.

As there is no restriction for drivers to swap lanes once on the slip road, and both lanes of the slip road join the roundabout at the same point, this single segment mapping is fine. Mapping additional segments would required nested roundabouts to prevent Waze suggesting either/or/both segments to reach the roundabout, we should never map lanes in Waze (exceptions may exist).
