Level 5 - Los Angeles, CA quick update

This was brought to my attention by a new Level 1 editor earlier today. I referred them here, but don’t see any post, and it needs some prompt attention. So,

This segment just needs the Straight TR enabled on eastbound Imperial Hwy. It’s a busy road, so this is kind of important.

This ramp is now closed for three weeks for construction as indicated here (click the 57 shield): http://www.dot.ca.gov/dist12/

I’m Level 3, and this is outside my editable area anyway, so I’d appreciate a little help, before the TR really messes with some folks’ commute.

I enabled the Straight “turn”. I’ve also disconnected the ramp from Imperial to ensure that drivers aren’t routed that way. (link to the wiki’s page on handling road closures)

Another page on the wiki (link) points out that drivers can now mark a road closed directly in the app, and says that we should only alter the map in the WME if the road will be closed for months. But I’ve personally had some trouble with the in-app road closure. For that reason, coupled with how busy the road is, I went ahead and disconnected the ramp. I’ll check back on it in early Aug to see if it has reopened.

Thanks for taking care of that! I’m afraid we probably missed the update cutoff, but one day is better than two, I guess.

I’m well acquainted with the links you shared, thanks! I’m not near this, and I did explain it to the brand new editor who brought it to me. I brought it here since he didn’t act on it promptly, and couldn’t assume that he would do it in the app, either. And there was that TR, which was really the important issue, in my mind.

I’ve seen forum discussion among some Champs that the info on road closures in the Wiki is based upon the time when the map took weeks to update, and now that we have nightly NA updates, even a week’s closure may be worth implementing in WME.

I’ve also developed the impression that the Closure feature in the app is more to be relied upon for short term closures (choices skip from “Several Days” to “Long Term”), or “holding” longer term closures until they could be closed in WME. Maybe I’m mistaken about that. I’ve only used it a few times, but I had better luck than you, I guess; it worked great each time.

Thanks again!
