Level5→L4 Unlock: New York - Poughkeepsie (US-9 N / US-9 S)

My Level: 4
Reason for request: To connect PLR to US-9 and to correct turn restrictions to clear a UR

I did it… basically because the current locking standard only calls for R4 locks anyway.

However, I don’t see what you’re talking about. The PLR seems to be connected and the south left turn into the two PLR segments seems to be allowed.

They were connected but all turns restricted so drivers were instructed to drive past then make a u-turn. Fixing it now. Thanks.

Ready for relock. Thanks.

Didn’t need to be relocked - see next paragraph.

I noticed a lot of out of whack locks in the area that I’ve fixed. The New York locking standards changed recently – outside of NYC, a lot of segments are now to be dropped on rank down (MH/mH/PS went from 5/4/3 to 4/3/2 as defaults).

There was also a U-turn lane or 2 that I think I actually bumped up because it is really part and parcel of the highway, and should perhaps even have its type and rank bumped up to be exactly like the highway or perhaps turned into a ramp. I also had change its geometry to mDL in a turn instruction.

Thanks. Should I go through my whole area and reduce the locks? Everything is at 5,4,3 based on what orbit had told me quite a few months ago.

It changed a couple of months ago. I wouldn’t go crazy making a project just to fix the locks, but as you are going through an area, try to note it. As a rank 4, you may be able to use the Toolbox features to check levels against types and select them to fix them. Note that making changes against a large number of segments at a time will make it seem like your browser locked. Expect about a half second for each segment to apply it the UI, and about the same to save it.

Thanks, I will slowly take make the locks comform as I go through the area.

Let me know if you hit any MH=5 that you need me to do for you. If it is an isolated onesy twosy, check if it might be intentional, but if they are common in an area, it is probably a holdover.
