London Borough of Hounslow ETO road closures

Hi,

I don’t have a car so it will be difficult for me to get onto the track of being a Waze editor but people were very helpful about implementing some changes close to where I live last month.

There are 3 more road closures close to where I live in London Borough of Hounslow which have been done using Experimental Traffic Orders (ETOs).

  1. Devonshire Road, Chiswick

This is an “except for loading, disabled parking and for access” restriction. Access being to the street called Prince of Wales Terrace off Devonshire Rd which is only accessible via Devonshire Rd.

  1. Turnham Green Terrace, Chiswick

This is an “except for loading, disabled parking, local bus, taxi and for access” restriction at both ends of street. Access being to the street called Turnham Green Terrace Mews off Turnham Green Terrace which is only accessible via Turnham Green Terrace.

I think this has been done already.

  1. Duke Road, Chiswick

This is a no entry from Chiswick High Road onto Duke Road.

Thanks for highlighting these changes. I made these changes yesterday and Waze should route better in a day or so.

  1. Devonshire Road has been mapped Private between Chiswick High Road & Glebe Street, Waze should only route along this section if your destination is on it or within Prince of Wales Terrace.

  2. Turnham Green Terrace has had the local bus & taxi restriction mapped, and a temporary closure added until these restrictions take effect. I will make further adjustments to allow access for residents after this time.

  3. Duke Road (and Duke’s Avenue) were updated on 3rd July by another editor and already route correctly.

Many thanks for this.

Just a heads-up about a some more possible forthcoming traffic restrictions using ANPR. These aren’t in place yet but I wasn’t sure how Waze handles ANPR traffic restrictions.

  1. Thames Road - Strand on the Green, Chiswick, LB Hounslow. This is proposed to use two ANPR cameras, about 1km apart. There is a fine for a vehicle driving between the cameras under a certain time (which they haven’t publicised). Vehicles can access the area between the cameras, stop and continue as along as this is over the time threshold.

  2. Green Dragon Lane, Brentford, LB Hounslow

Same principle as Thames Road - Strand on the Green.

  1. Restriction for northbound vehicles Hartington Rd, Chiswick, LB Hounslow.

Registered vehicles permitted northbound, all vehicles permitted southbound, enforced by camera.

Cheers for the info, I have highlighted these scheme on our map so local editors can implement them when they become active.

Hi, for Hounslow changes. Traffic orders are listed at:
https://www.hounslow.gov.uk/downloads/20165/traffic_notices

The following have restrictions to traffic.

  1. Chestnut Avenue - closure of Occupation Lane to motor traffic
  2. Harvard Hill - no entry from Harvard Hill to A4
  3. Green Dragon Lane - access only between camera locations
  4. Amhurst Gardens, Teesdale Avenue and Teesdale Gardens - through traffic restricted

Green Dragon Ln and Amhurst Gdns/ Teesdale Ave/ Teesdale Gdns were updated last week

Looks like Jon has also made the change at Harvard Hill, though it shouldn’t really come into force until 6th August.

I’ve added the turn restriction on Chestnut Ave to become active on 6th August.

Thanks!

The ETO has an effective from date of 6 August but they have an emergency or temporary order to cover before then.

I live close by and the barriers and signage went up on Thursday. There is a traffic order displayed on a notice at the location to “prohibit motor vehicles from using Harvard Hill Chiswick, at its junction with the Great West Road (A4).” and “This prohibition shall come into operation on Thursday 30 July and will remain in force for a period of twenty one days” and “During the period of this Notice, the Council will bring into operation an Experimental Traffic Order.”

I don’t live near Chestnut Ave to say if they have emergency or temporary orders in place there before the ETO comes into effect.

On a separate issue, I’ve also been feeding through these changes to the other mapping services. Google maps routing was changed to reflect road closures on Turnham Green Terrace and Stile Hall Gardens but I now see Google maps routing now shows these roads as open again. I’ve submitted reports to Google maps again but was wondering if it was common for google maps to be unreliable for these types of changes.
