Losing GPS connection

Waze either continues to lose GPS connection or is unable to connect. My route has not changed as it is a small commute in a major mid-western city without tall building or bridges to block signal. This never once happened prior to this week, and had not happened over the couple of months that I have been using waze, but now I can hardly keep a GPS signal more than 10-15 seconds. I have tried both wifi on and off (strong 3G signal). Any advice?

iOS 5.0.1, 3GS (no changes over the past couple of weeks)

Although this FAQ is provided by a Waze competitor, MotionX - the troubleshooting for iOS device GPS devices is helpful. Ignore the reference to ‘Outdoor Mode’ and the ‘Globe’ which are MotionX-GPS Drive specific features. And obviously you want to ensure that the location services for Waze are on vs. MotionX-GPS Drive.

You may want to review questions Q1, Q2, Q4, and Q7.

The ping video that is linked in Q2 is of value to troubleshoot your issue.

Also the GPS in the iPhone 3GS is not as accurate as the GPS in the iPhone 4 and later. I don’t think this is related to your issue since it used to work fine. But worth mentioning.

I was having a similar problem at around the same time in northern Florida. It has since gone away. I can’t be sure, but I think it may have been related to the solar activity that was happening.
