M4 overnight closures, J4→J3 E and J15→J14 E

First post so sorry for any incorrect etiquette.

These segments (M4 E J4 to J3) are currently closed overnight between 10pm and 5.30am, from 5 May to 14 May 2015.

I noticed when researching the above that these, these and these segments (M4 E J15 to J14) are also closed overnight but only for tonight, 7 May 2015, 9pm to 6am. Not sure how easy / feasible it is to implement this one! (Also not sure why WME wouldn’t let me select all four segments at once to make 1 permalink instead of 3, sorry)

There are also closures on the M4 W-bound around J4b overnight from 6 May to 18 May 2015, but the Highways England website isn’t specific about exactly which segment is closed so I won’t venture to guess.

Since this is your first post, welcome to Waze editing and the forums! :smiley: Have you seen the guide to editing at https://www.waze.com/wiki/UK_Quickstart? Far too much to absorb in one go, I know! Any questions, just ask, possibly by posting on the main UK forum https://www.waze.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=55.

I’ve learnt from bitter experience not to trust the Traffic England website for future closures - even as much as one day in advance it is wrong almost as often as it is right. Currently so far as I can see it is not showing any closures for the eastbound M4 (although it showing some westbound).

Which leaves me reluctance to input your closures, unless you have some additional evidence for the whole road (not just some lanes) being closed?

Sorry to be negative about your first request, but I’ve learned the hard way that we get more flack for flagging closed a road which actually turns out to be open, than for missing a closure.

I’ve closed J4 to J3 for tonight, and J4B nightly until May 18th.

I found another report of it on Frixo but they probably just pull their data from Traffic England so I suppose that’s not much use… I can’t find it anywhere else.

I know it definitely is fully closed overnight at least at the moment, because I was evangelising Waze to a friend and he complained that it ‘never has road closures’, citing the current M4 overnight closures as an example! So I told him I would try and get it inputted.

I can understand why you’d want to be careful about closing a major motorway into London though…

Thank you for the welcome, I’m a big Waze fan and a bit of a geek so if I get some time I might start trying to fix some map issues rather than just reporting them :slight_smile:
