Magic… and the road ahead

Hi Waze Volunteer Community,
Something I believe this group knows more than anyone else is how vast our impact can be at Waze but also… how much we have to do. The challenge has been finding the bandwidth for more, even while we became increasingly focused through efforts such as closing down Carpool. One way to make a big step change in this is by working more closely with Google, which has been demonstrated so clearly by the work many of you have already been a part of.
As Fej mentioned in his post, yesterday I announced that Waze will join Google’s Geo organization, remaining a standalone app. The impact Waze can have in the world is vast and this move will unlock the bandwidth to realize that.

For me, this means I will depart Waze next year as there will no longer be a Waze org led by a CEO. Over the next months I will partner with the Geo team at Google to help set Waze up for outsized success in its new home.
I joined Waze to lead a company, brand, team and community that I deeply believe in, and as I reflect back on the last few years, I am fiercely proud of what we have accomplished. Together we have grown users and usage, increased impact to our customers and partners, retired Carpool to enhance our focus, built a strong Waze leadership team, and co-authored our purpose: to change the way cities move

On my first day at Waze I posted on LinkedIn: “Let’s make magic happen” and what I’ve since learned is that our Waze community IS the magic and I have been beyond privileged to be part of it. :blue_heart:
Wishing you all the very best,
Neha
