Map correction - THIRD attempt - please help

I have submitted this twice and it is still not correct. There has been a new road with rerouting and there is some confusion. Per my local township, my address should be 593 Old Route 322 Spring Mills PA 16875, HOWEVER, I am seeing the road also listed on Waze as Old US-322. 2 sections of this road are listed each way.

The location on the most recent correction is correct EXCEPT the town is listed as Centre Hall, PA. The correct town is Spring Mills. See below:

Hi usaweb_ryxqpxi3,

The map issue you reported from 10.23.2020 on Old US-322, Potter, Centre ("Had sent this in earlier today and said it was fixed. It is not. I may have given you the wrong coordinates. On Waze, I see 40.79560 -77.62796 as the location. The address should be 593 Old Route 322 ( or may be Old US 322) Spring Mills PA 16875. If I punch in the old address of 2860 General Potter Highway, Spring Mills PA, on Google Maps, the locations is correct. There has been a new road put in behind my business and my address has changed. I am having customers having trouble finding me. I appreciate your help on this. ") was fixed by whoaitspete. The map has been updated accordingly. You’ve helped many wazers. Thanks!

I’m glad you were able to get the corrected location - that deleting process can be a pain. I also added the business by name so users are getting the correct location when they search via name. If you have any alternate names or think of a common misspelling, we can add those too.

Unfortunately, we are dependent on Google Maps for the mailing address city, and that is not going to match up well until they fix the road name there. I did submit a report to Google Maps about this when I fixed the location, but they have staff fix their maps instead of volunteers and it takes some time. I will see if an override is possible later today on our end.

Side note - Love the work you do. My job had me commuting out of State College that way quite often and it was interesting to see which VWs you would have outside on any given day.

I was able to get the override working, so a search for “593 Old US-322 Spring Mills” now brings up a search result at your location. So a user can search for Spring Mills, Potter, or Centre Hall and will get the same result for each of them. Hopefully you get an influx of customers once your road reopens on the 6th!

Thanks for the compliment - Right now its not just customers, but I am having issues with deliveries. If my regular UPS, Fed Ex or other delivery driver is not working, I am having orders returned. I double checked with the post office and the address the have for me is 593 Old Route 322 Spring Mills PA 16875, BUT I am seeing the road listed at Old US 322 as well as General Potter Highway. Looks like Google fixed the old US 322 to be Old Route 322, but they still have me as General potter. Anyway thanks for your help.

Based on an update from the county’s road inventory, I will switch it over to Old Route 322 and have searches for Old US-322 correct to that. The drawing for the project had “Old US-322” listed, but those were also the ones drawn up in six years ago for public presentation. You should see the road name change in the app within a few days!

This is still not showing up correctly. My business (AC2 Aircooled) address is now 593 Old Route 322 (formerly 2860 General Potter Highway, Spring Mills PA 16875). The physical location is still the same, but the road name was changed due to road relocation. Can someone please fix this. I believe that it was fixed once, but its not correct now. Thanks! Andy

What isn’t showing up correctly? I searched for “593 Old Route 322” in my app and got several results. As whoaitspete mentioned, searches for Spring Mills, Potter, or Centre Hall will all redirect to the same location.

Address searches can be finicky sometimes, especially when city names can vary. For this reason and some others, the best solution is to search by business name rather than address. So a search for “AC2 Aircooled” will give proper directions and avoids all those other issues. That would be what I would suggest you tell people. Give it a try and see if it works better.

If you are specifying the Zip Code in the searches, this will most definitely result in a non Waze result. Waze map databases do not contain nor recognize Zip Code data. Use of voice searches or specific use of Zip Codes ALWAYS results in a query to Google Maps for a lat/long pin location which is then handed back to Waze for “closest routing” which can often be up to a mile or more wrong. As RussPA stated above, we strongly recommend use of Business NAMES not addresses because as editors, we can tie the Google result directly to the Waze location, thus forcing routing to the proper place. I assume you have been deleting prior stored searches in Waze history before you are attempting to search. If you do not, Waze will not search the back end database but simply realize it already knows where this place is and go to the same place it went last time. This is done to save both time and mobile data.

OK - I am just getting frustrated with all of this…You folks have been very responsive. Have tried updating Google at least a dozen times and have spent several hours on the phone with eFed Ex and UPS trying to get this fixed. I appreciate your suggestions.

Getting Google to update something is a “challenge” at best. Several of us are L6+ Google Local Guides and we struggle to figure out why some of our changes are accepted immediately and others are never addressed. Sorry we cannot do more for you.

I think a name search would solve all the Waze problems. As for Google and FedEx and the others, that’s a different story that I don’t have a suggestion for. It’s tough when they change a street name like this.
